Greetings!

I was steered here by members of another forum. They said this is the place for questions regarding old S&W revos, so here goes. I have an old revolver in .44spl. It is what my father calls a "triple lock". It has some bluing wear on the end of the barrel, and parts of the cylinder as it was carried by my great-grandfather in his overalls as he worked on the railroads as an engineer. It also has scratches on the front strap. The serial number on the butt of the pistol is110XX. The pistols actionis quite smooth. There is minor peening of the notches on the cylinder. The grips currently on the pistol are not the stock ones but some off another S&W pistol as the old grips were custom/target types that negated the use of a speed loader. This was given to me by my grandfather as a "house warming" present when I first moved out on my own. I was just wondering what it could possibly be worth? it shoots rather accurately with Blazer factory ammo. There is a picture of one like it on the homepage right now. Very curious to know what I really have and what it is worth. WhenI can, I will post pictures.
Thanks, JZ

Triple locks are worth some money but if my grandfather carried it, used it and then gave it to me it would be priceless.

My Dad has been dead for some time but a few years before he passed he gave his Model 10-5 with 6 inch pencil barrel. It's the lowest valued revolver in my collection but to me it's the centerpiece and is priceless.

Your grandfather has very good taste. Congradulations on owning a Triple Lock.
I would be very careful as to what kind of ammo goes in it, it's a strong gun, but I would use standard velocity 44 spl only in it.

I'm no Triple Lock expert, but I do know many people consider them the best revolvers ever made. I also know they are worth a chunk of change, depending on condition.

How does yours compare to this one?
