Old Model 39 question

I have just acquired and old alloy framed model 39 S&W. It is not actually marked "Mod 39", as the early ones weren't, has the short safety and a s# of 1124. It has no military test markings. The BlueBook lists two different variants for this early pistol. How can I tell if it is a $400 gun or a $1400 gun?
Thanks for any info.

Pre Model 39's that are correct, boxed, with tools, paperwork, and spare mag, in Mint condition are worth in the $1400 range to collectors

They started Model 39 serial numbers at 1000, so yours is the 124th one made!!

Thanks

Thanks guys. I have only the pistol and one original mag. It has a little holster wear but is in great shape for its age. The original owner passed away years ago and his widow wanted some of his guns out of the house. I bought it as a shooter, but after seeing the low serial number I wasn't sure if I should find it a better home.

Pre-Model 39 Value

AUTOMATIC S&W is correct. A Pre-Model 39, especially with such a low serial number is worth big money (I've seen asking prices around 2K) as long as it is in excellent condition, and has the correct grips, along with the box, and original booklet that came with it. Here is mine I bought some time ago as an example as to the gun that started it all, to go along with my Model 39 collection.
