I was thinking of purchasing some old service type J frame wood grips for my 637. Will the older style grips fit my recent production 637? If so, how much more felt recoil can I expect? Thanks for any replies.

magnum which grips do you have on them now? i know the current production one arent uncle mikes. i wouldnt put the wood ones on thats just my opinion. uncle mike boot grip or combat grip would be the one to go with but if you want wood one go with the wood combat grip. hope this helps you!

The current grips are the set that was on the 637 when I bought it new about 2 years ago. I just wanted to know if the old style (1980's) grips would fit the newer production revolvers. I like the looks of the old service grips.

I bought one of the 'no lock' model 37-2's last year and immediately put a set of old wood grips on it. They fit perfectly. Find a Tyler T-grip and you'll have a great 'retro' looking gun.
