While hesitant to refer to myself as "knowledgable" I wear an Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean every day. It has the black dial and the look just still grabs me.

When I reached a point where I could afford a top quality watch I looked at both Omega and Rolex, but the Omega rang some kind of bell with me over any of the Rolex watches at which I looked.

Same here, looked at Rolex and Omega and ended up with an Omega Speedmaster, great watch. At the time I could have bought a similar Rolex for the same price but liked the Omega better, and it was less pretentious. I prefer flying a bit under the radar.

I have, and like very much, both a Constellation and a Seamaster Chronometer, both with the 24-jewel 751 day-date movement.

For everyday, I wear a Seiko 7A38, a day /date chronograph. Accurate, and the battery cost averages about $5.00 per year. If I want to get gaudy, I have a 7A48 (same features as 7A38, plus a moonphase sub-dial).

Other than the inability to afford either, same here, for the same reasons.

I only own one expensive watch: a Seamaster Planet Ocean with the blue face. I wear it every day.

I looked at all the brands and options that I could. Some are difficult to get your hands on before purchase.

One factor that helped is that Army and Airforce Exchanges (AAFES) are authorized dealers for Omega and get some very good deals. So good that for a bout a year and a half (right when I was shopping) Omega stopped supplying watched to the exchange. Rumor mill said too many people were buying them on sale and flipping them.

As soon as they showed back up, I bought one. No taxes made it worth it.

The year before, I was shopping for my wife. She was partial to Breitling. Of all the boutiques and shops I went into through this process (shopping for hers and mine), no one treated us better than the Breitling boutique.

I added the alligator band:D
I consider this my " Dress Watch" Love it

As I recall, Tudor was a less expensive (budget?) line produced by Rolex.

I wore a Rolex Submariner for 18 years. Then it needed a new crystal, trip through the service shop, and a new bracelet, all of which came up to more than I paid for the watch. The Rolex certified chronometer movement required resetting to correct the time at least twice per month, usually off by a minute or two per week.

The Submariner went away 24 years ago for about what I paid for it, in spite of needing the service and parts. Since then I have worn out a Bulova Accutron and a Seiko Kinetic, now working on a Casio quartz (all of which have kept better time than the Rolex).
