Scrolling through the channels on the tube and came upon a favorite. One of those movies where any time I come across it I always finish watching it. No matter where in the movie it is.

Once Upon a Time in the West. Great cast, great writing, excellent score. My favorite Charles Bronson character.

Coming up on the showdown gunfight, gotta go.

I still remember seeing that first in the original long version on the big screen in Europe. As soon as I got a flat screen TV and a blu-ray player, that was the first movie I bought.

These days, if it's on and I'm around, I annoy everybody by saying the famous lines right before the actors do:

"Looks like we're shy one horse" ... "You brought two too many"
"Now that you've called me by name..."
"Only at the point of dying"
"People like that have something inside.... something to do with Death"

I agree---one of the best movies ever made. First time I saw it I was shocked that Henry Fonda was a cold blooded killer like that. I got the movie the next day.

Working in the movies in Hollywood, and had the pleasure of filming on the same street's as John Wayne, I can attest to Sergio Leone's demand for details. And let's not forget the most successful movie composer,,,Ennio Morricone in my opinion.

Harmonica: Yeah. Well, you know music, and you can count - all the way up to two.
[Cheyenne spins the magazine of his revolver]
Cheyenne: All the way up to six if I have to...

Thank you,

Didn't anyone notice Claudia Cardinale? She's the main reason to watch
it over and over whenever it comes on.
Right. Claudia Cardinale is the two best reasons to watch this movie. Her aside, if that's even possible, I like that they make an Italian western in Spain with parts filmed in Monument Valley. Scene stealing uncredited co-star of the movie, Jack Elam's left eye.
And that fly.

Also "How the West was won."

Attempted to watch it some time ago. Henry Fonda's talent was certainly wasted in the film, but it may have been the only loser he was ever in. While Claudia Cardinale may have added an element of cosmetic appeal, it wasn't nearly enough to turn a bad movie into a good one.

I love westerns, how have I missed this one!? I'm going home tonight and see if it's available on demand (Xfinity). It's not ringing any bells with me in my 2 or 3 remaining brain cells. What year was it filmed (about) I thought I'd seen every western out there, so this is actually good news to me.
