One school's solution to bullies.

Hum... an assault is a criminal act. Call the police and have the criminal charged. If others seek to cover it up, whatever, have them charged as accessories. Sue the school administration for failing to act appropriately in providing care for the victim. Seek money damages. Use an attack dog grade lawyer. Money is the only thing these people will understand. So, give them a message in the language they will understand.

IIRC in years gone by bullies often found out-the hard way-that they really should be nice to people because they don't know who their family and friends are.
My Army service gave me a deep appreciation of the fine art of the ambush and the recognition that the extra time and effort to achieve an objective by stealth and subterfuge is well worth it. I read a book by one of the henchmen of Boston Gangster Whitey Bulger, it quotes him as saying "Night is the best camouflage and it's free-all you have to do is wait for it!"

In a perfect world, that is how it should work out.

But in reality, there are far too many factors that preclude that response. My main tormentors were the kids of illegal aliens. Half of them did not speak much English- but they joined gangs easily enough. No parents to contact and to contain those kids. Not to mention..... PC feel good contortionist twisting by school admins made it as though I was being cruel and unfair to the little migrants by using my FACE to hit their hands with.
When it came to my son, I made it really clear that there would be horrible consequences for the kid if he ever made a move at my son again, and his father and mother both understood that I was going to hold the father personally responsible for his son's actions- and my son's response was equal to his size- about 1/3 of my size and my response.
My dad was in a really strange position; when he came to the school one time because I "was picking on 4 poor 'lil kids" who could not even speak English to avoid a confrontation with me- my dad was told it would be racist to press charges and involve the police, etc.
He told me, pretty much I was on my own unless he was around, so make sure that if I wound up on the ground with one of them, make an example of him so his friends would think twice before coming after me. If you saw where my dad grew up, in an orphanage, you would understand that he knew where I was coming from, and experience had taught him the same lessons he was imparting to me. HA! He had moved me from that place in Hawaii, to SoCal and we wound up in a nicer neighborhood; the problem was my school was in a rathole that I had to go through each day.

Oh well- he sure tried!

If I were a parent of a kid at this school, I'd go punch the principle in the face. Then tell him to follow the rules he gave my kid.

My first day of high school a senior met me head on going up the steps in a packed hall changing class`s. Looking me in the eye he deliberately dropped his books and then ordered me to pick them up. I wasnt going to pick them up and he started fighting with me. He probley was 4 or 5 years older than me. A female teacher come running up and in the excitement he called her a b----! Soon we were sitting side by side in the principals office waiting for the principal to show up. Of course it was a long wait. He started to cry. I wasnt worried at all. Then he tried to tell the principal he had called the teacher a witch. The principal was going to expel us both but I stood up for myself and just the senior got expelled for a week or two.

There sure are a lot of tough guys on this post.

If you're tired of hearing about guys, then let me tell you about my sister. We went to a very small school, and she was on the noon bus, which was taking kindergarteners home and seniors to Vo-Tech. (She was a kindergartener.) One day she came home in tears missing a chunk of her hair (pulled out by the roots). The bus driver did nothing. Dad went to see the principal, who didn't do anything. That evening was spent with dad showing sister how to throw a punch. The next day, the little twerp tried for a second handful of my sister's hair, and his nose met her fist at high velocity. After a second trip to the principal's office, he was still a bit of a punk to the other kids, but he has always since been nice to my sister.

Re: Perfect world. Agree. But, using the legal system as a weapon against such future criminals/terrorists is far preferable to allowing such illegal aliens/criminals to skip free of any repercussions simply b/c they game the system.

What I'm saying is an assault is an assault. In this delightful era of cell phone cameras, etc., photograph the perp and call 911. Regardless of if the administration likes or does not like it, there will be a response from the police. And, because an assault is an assault, the perps can be forced to face something more than a PC excuse making. Illegal aliens generally do not want to get attention from the police.

In another world, I like many other smaller children knew the experience of being pushed around and in one instance being robbed at school by a gang. It was there that I first saw a box cutter used as a weapon along with bicycle chain, welding rod, brick, etc. I got through it and put it behind me. Some of my friends will wear the scars from the box cutters and bricks the rest of their lives. The administration should have taken the incidents w/ the bicycle chains and welding rods more seriously rather than excusing it as unsupported accusation, etc. What followed was preventable. Nowadays, children/teenagers doing such things would face legal issues rather than merely getting time out.
