Onion sandwich

I like a good white onion to eat like an apple, too!

A hold over from my early 20's, Leftover liver and onions on whole wheat bread with a good smear of creamy peanut butter! It will put hair on your chest! (and nobody at work will steal your lunch!

Ivan, I was born with a curious palate and will try about anything. However I do believe I would first have to have several touches of the creature in order to sneak up on that one.

Bon appétit.

Missing Ingredient - for remembeerd sandwich

Missing Ingredient - for remembered sandwich.

Long long ago I knew a girl in college who spoke highly of a sandwich - fried liver, slices of sweet pickles.
I think there was more - might have been American cheese

Does this ring any bells?

Shameless plug--Jimmy Johns makes a great cucumber sandwich.

When I was a kid, my grandmother and mother introduced me to onion sandwiches. (Thinking about that now, I wonder if it was a Depression thing?)

To this day, I love onion sandwiches, on toast with mayo, salt and pepper.

Tomato sandwiches are great as well, even better with Kooper's Sharp White American Cheese and onion added.

I don't have onion sandwiches in mind when I go grocery shopping but I have eaten them.

For me it's a way of using up the end pieces of bread in a loaf. Usually have cheese slices and diced onions laying around. Can be mustard or mayo. Takes the edge off between meals.

Started watching the Australian
TV series "Jack Irish," which is
very funny and stars Guy Pearce.

In first episode Jack's offered an
onion sandwich--- sliced onion on
rye bread with mustard. I like
onions but usually have meat and
cheese with them.

Just might try onion sandwich with
just Arnold's seeded rye, Gray
Poupon and a Vidalia type onion.

One sandwich idea that doesn't
appeal to me is what I think of as
a British treat---cucumber sandwich.
Not sure any condiments are added,
just cucumbers on white bread.

Anyone else have suggestions for
what might be considered "offbeat"
sandwiches?

Love onion sandwiches with mayo since I was a kid, many many moons ago.
I also like the Guy Pearce reference. Been a fan of his since the tv series The McGregor Saga: Man from Snowy River.
My favorite movie of his is L.A. Confidential.
Also one of Russell Crow's best movies.

I've seen many of Guy Pearce's
films and he's been consistently
excellent.

As a real meanie nasty person,
check out "Lawless." He plays
a critter named Charlie Rakes from
Chicago. It has Tom Hardy and
Gary Oldman as well.
Filmed just west of Atlanta.

Ah yes, Lawless, he was not a hero in that movie.
I do like that he's not the perpetual bad guy like a lot of other actors.

Sorry, didn't mean to hijack your "Onion Sandwich" thread.
