So does anyone have good online places to deal with for parts/acces. that don't rape you on shipping? $10 HB5 sling adapter is $13 to ship at midway. Still searching around but if you know of any of those places, I'm all ears.

UPDATE--It was NOT midwayusa, it was cheaperthandirt.

Remember, it is not only the cost of the shipping, but the packing materials, etc. Have you tried to ship anything by UPS or postal service lately?

It is amazing to me how much BETTER the shipping rates are from places like Midway or Sports South, LLC, a huge distributor, who have "bargaining power" with UPS, FedEx, etc., than I can do when I try to ship, insure, etc. by the same carrier.

I don't like it much, but it is reality.

I do a lot of shipping so I know how much things cost to ship, big and small. That part, First class by the USPS would be under $5. Don't get me started on handling fees. lol. It just irks me to see inflated shipping prices.

You might get a break if the distributor is close to you. And as Phil said, order more stuff! I've occasionally seen specials run that give free shipping if you order a certain amount. You could join Amazon Prime too, everything from them ships free......

I ordered one from lapolicegear. $12.50 + $3.50 shipping = Sold! Hopefully all goes fine. Don't have many local places for parts and accessories. Sorry JJ, didn't see your post until after I ordered it.

I regularly get small order (over $25, though) shipments from Midway for $4.30. Midway gives it to UPS, UPS hands it off to USPS for final delivery, & I can track it all the way here. I'm satisfied with that.

You caught my interest and I went to LAPG...can't find it at all, at any price. Search was for "HB5 Sling Adapter". Where did I go wrong?

I don't know, would think so though. It better, lol. No other sites listed anything about hardware that I saw. We'll find out this week. :)

Don't know where your located but try primaryarms.com Harris HB5 Bipod QD Swivel Stud $9.34 + $3.86 USPS or Amazon prime has them for $13.29 plus free shipping if your a prime member. Harris 5 Bipod Adapters at Botach has free shipping. I hope this is what your looking for.

I gave up on Midway with their shipping costs and hurdles imposed to get discounts. Aim surplus has free shipping on many products, Brownells will send back ordered items without charge (only the shipping on the original order) where Midway charges every time they send anything. Many parts can be ordered direct from the manufacturer/ distributor and often shipping is free or reasonable. It pays to shop if you are spending on AR parts, I found CTR stocks at Aim for $56 and elsewhere they are $76.

I've had two experiences with Midway.

I go there, see what I want... go to order it, "Out of Stock"

I go there, see what I want... go to order it, see their shipping/handling/etc fees, laugh and cancel.

How do you guys find these high shipping rates? I just checked this item at Midway and the shipping would be $4.30 to my door. That's low enough that is not worth my time to search for a lower shipping rate.

Midway often has a fairly low delivered price if you work the system with coupons and sales.

I have seen quite a few complaint sessions about Midway high prices on shipping. I have posted orders of mine and asked the readership where they could have purchased the same for a lower deliver price. So far never heard more than crickets chirping. Let's try again. Maybe there will be some cheaper delivered prices for these items in stock.

Here is an oder from Midway on June 4.
Brick of CCI SV
Two sets QD sling swivels
pmag

Can anyone find a lowered delivered price for all these items anywhere else?

I think I made a mistake and it was not midway. I was looking at so many sites and must have gotten confused and I was doing it from my phone. I'll try and figure out what site it was.

BUT, I just tried it now for the same part at midwayusa and it was $4.30 for shipping, $3.00 handling fee and $15.29 for the part. So, $2.79 more for the part, .80 cents more in shipping and $3.00 for handling (order under $25).

MidwayUSA - $22.59 shipped

LAPolicegear - $15.37 shipped

Saved $7.22

There handling fee for orders under $25 is a penalty really. Not likely i'll buy from them.

It's impossible to say that any seller will have the best price. I'm buying a YHM-126 lower. CTD has the lowest price. My Aimppoint H1 with LaRue mount was priced best at LaRue. Buddy bought an Aimpoint Pro from Midway which was the lowest price. Primary Arms had the lowest Price on a Harris SBRM, then a couple months later when I wanted another Harris Amazon had the lowest price. Cabela's definitely had the best prices and availability on .22lr for a while earlier this year. SGAmmo usually has great ammo prices but now and then Palmetto State Armory has the best deal on 5.56. When you get into upper end optics and flashlights there is no telling who will have the best prices. I just bought a Surefire P3X for $155 delivered from B&H Photo. I had never done business with them before.

It was cheaper than dirt not midway. Which also had a $2.99 handling fee.
Interesting. Are you going to go back and correct the original post?

If I had a retail outlet as large as Midway, I'd probably charge $3 for a tiny order as well. I've ordered a lot of stuff from Midway USA. I just looked back through my orders and don't see a single one for less than $25. I use the "Wish List" to good effect. I rarely need one small part in a hurry. For that matter, I rarely need any gun part in a hurry. So, I put the small things on the wish list. Then when I need something else, I just gather a bunch together and buy it all at once. Saves on shipping and saves me that $3 charge (which I didn't know about because I've never placed an order that small).

People love to complain about shipping cost. They feel like the store is ripping them off. Before you complain about a small fee like that, run your own business. You'll change your tune pretty quick.

One more thing....

Botach Tactical has free shipping all the time. They also have good prices. But just try to get them on the phone; you can't. Try to email them; you might get a response. Yes, free shipping is great, but it's a gamble whether or not you'll get what you order. They have no trouble taking your money right away though.

CTD, you have to really pay attention where they're shipping it from and you have to order bulk. Otherwise, yeah... they're far from "cheap".

That is the way I work it also with Midway, Brownells, etc., but never with Cheaper Than "You Know What" as I refuse to do business with a company like that.
We do shipping via USPS, FedEx, SpeeDee Delivery, and LTL pallet freight. In most cases, after the items are collected, it takes as much time to package and prepare a whole 2,500 lb pallet for shipment as it does a 1 pound package.
Say one of my employees has to go find one item, the actual labor cost (not just hourly wage) alone would probably cost me $2.00-$3.00 if they did it VERY quickly. They still need to make sure it gets properly packaged and labeled for shipment

Thanks. Found it.

Do you know if it comes with attaching screws/hardware? The description doesn't say.

I got my part today, 3 days from Cali to WI. :D Everything you need to install is included. You unscrew the nipple piece, put the big plate on the inside on the hand guard, the washer on the outside and screw the nipple in. It will only mount in one position though without modifying the inside of the hand guard, would need a little plastic cut away if you wanted to use any other hole. As is, it's 3rd hole back from the front, should work for the bipod. Hope to hit the range next week and try it out.

3 days...awesome!

I just went back and looked at my Midway account on line. You can look at all orders that you have made. I can truly say l have never had any problems with the price of the shipping. It has always been fair and on time. I shop the web when I buy, and almost always find my way back to Midway. Now today , l drove forty minutes to BassPro, paid $4.23 per 100 of CCI lg rifle primers. Counting what my gas cost and the bad taste in my mouth on the price, I would have gladly paid 3 or 4 dollars to ship it to me.:D
