Only one gun.

Impossible to answer without knowing more. The obvious first choice answer for most would be the versatile 12 gauge pump or semiauto shotgun, as within its range limits it can be used very effectively for both large and small game hunting and also personal defense (given the availability of a variety of shotshell types). Second choice would be a .22 semiauto rifle - light weight (both gun and ammo) and ammo should be available almost everywhere. And lethal and accurate enough to handle almost anything out to 100 yards, especially with semiauto fire capability. Third choice (at least mine) would be a .30 M1 Carbine. Light and handy, minimal recoil, with adequate accuracy, lethality, and range out to 200 yards for most any hunting and/or defense need - and also it's a semiauto which can use high capacity magazines. I would not choose any handgun due to its range and accuracy limitations. But if my choice was limited to a handgun it would be any better quality .22 semiauto.

One gun? While I prefer a double barreled shotguns, in this instance it would be a Benelli 12 ga semiauto. Probably a legacy, cuz if I get only one. I dont want an ugly one.

The only new gun that really got me excited was the colt king cobra 3". Since I don't hunt that should fit the balance well
