The football targets are correct for that gun. Nice shooting. I agree with you about ammo. Even in a 6-1/2" gun, full charge .44 magnum factory loads are NO fun at all. Nice old 29. Congrats!
Nice find. I like shooting both my 29-2's a 6.5 inch nickel and a 4 inch loaded down to 44 special velocities. Have you tried the 44 Russian? There fun to shoot and no noticeable recoil in the 6.5 incher and about like a 45 ACP in the 4 inch gun.
Nice find! My 629 is probably my favorite revolver. You should have a blast with that one.
Gunbroker is a strange animal. Sometimes you win when you don't expect it. Sometimes not. I found my birth year K-22 masterpiece in really nice shape. I decided to just place my max bid with 8 days left. It held up until the last hour when someone bid 5$ over my max. I had forgotten that the auction was ending that day. Oh well.
Ain't that the truth! I have had a 29 or two at one time or another in the past. But this last month, I picked up a 4" 629-1, then a 4" 629 no dash popped up that I just had to have! Two weeks later a BEAUTIFUL 6 1/2" nickel 29-5 jumps into my hands. And on the way home, a homeless 29-10 follows me home. And then this last weekend I adopted a 4" nickel 29-2. I can honestly say that I have more 29s than I need.
I have owned quite a few 29s, for some reason never had a -3. Was that a short run? 1st 29 with unpinned barrel? Right now I've got to many 83/8"
in 29s and 25s. The 6.5" guns are much nicer to carry.
I miss my Model 29. I gave it to my son a couple of years ago. He shoots it often so that's a good thing and he's taught my 13 year old granddaughter how to shoot it. I gave him a number of low power loads that I used for competition.
