Optics Choice

I bought a UTG/Leapers Bug Buster (3-9x scope) last week and opened it up only to discover that the reticle was already shifted/rotated. I was determined to shoot with it so I rotated the entire scope to line up the crosshairs but it was futile. I like the overall design so I am sending it back for a replacement. I hope I get a good copy.

I was able to shoot decent groupings today but the rotated reticle bothers me. I think the design is decent but you get what you pay for in the end.

I just got this scope as well from Amazon. Have not got to shoot with it yet. Would it be obvious if the reticle was already shifted/rotated? Does that mean the cross hairs would look cock-eyed?

I am very pleased with the Bushnell TRS25 red dot. I have used it on my M&P15 for quite some time now and love it and will be using one on my M&P15-22 on its way also just so no matter which one i am using i will be acustomed to it. I am really impressed with it.

X2 on the Bushnell TRS25. I have one on my Del-Ton AR15 and I have been really impressed with it so far.

I have red dot and reflex scopes on a number of my rifles and one pistol.......They are great for plinking and rapid target acquisitioning, but are not good for serious marksmanship......A good scope of 3x9 or better magnification is the thing to have if you want tight groups at all ranges...........I put a mid price range NcStar scope on my 15 22 and it is a tack driver....I am waiting for the bi pod I ordered to put on the 15 22 hoping to steady my shaky old hands.......JMO

Yes, it would be obvious. The replacement seems fine except that the green lighting doesn't work. Red works fine. I'm not going to mess with sending it back again.

:(

I'm still waiting for my BSA to fail so I can move my Primary Arms over from another AR. Then, I'll be picking up the Primary arms Micro Dot. However, the BSA is still kickin' and holding zero after around 3,500 rounds. Not bad for $30.

i havent had any major problems with my utg yet, the green dot is a little larger than red so i use the red mainly. if it does ever go out, id definitely like to pick up a pa micro dot.

That sucks. :(

Just one more example of why I will never buy anything UTG.

I'm not a gamling man.

I went out to the range (Knob Creek in Ky) today and sighted in the 15-22 w/ the UTG scope @ 25 yds. I left it a little high because I had a steel gong out at 100 yds. It was a very fun day but it was cut short by a storm. I'll be happier when someone gets some 10rd mags in stock so shooting from the bench will be easier. Having written that, it was easy to stand and ring steel at 100 yds.

The gong was expensive but it handles 5.56mm and up without a problem (I also rented an AR-15). It is the Caldwell Magnum Rifle Gong.

I have a Doublestar AR on the way, I will not be buying anything cheap like the UTG for that ;)

I have the Truglo and don't have any complaints as of yet. The only "issue" I've had was the flip up covers aren't very snug but I put 1 layer of black electrical tape inside the covers and now they are perfect. I also colored the ugly Truglo sticker with a Sharpie marker. I'm actually contemplating the Truglo TruBrite site, just to change it up a bit.
