Well, I finally scraped the funds together to order my new revolver. Sending the money off tomorrow, should arrive in about a week. Looking forward to many years of enjoyment.

Y'all have a nice weekend,

686+

:D Ryan, You will like this new gun when it arrives. I bought a used one about a month ago and it has been a ball to shoot. By my scale the trigger is just over 3 lbs in single action. And the sights are dead on for me at 25 yds. Having the 7th round felt a little odd at first, but got used to it in no time. Enjoy. JA

Good choice

You Will enjoy this fine weapon. Shoot a couple hundred round to smooth out the trigger. I own 2 686's 4 in and a 3 in. Both are great shooters and accurate, makes me look like a better shot, Love the single action trigger light smooth like silk. Double action gets better with use and is about 3 lbs.

I bought a nice used one a couple of months ago. Put a red dot on it and it is now my go to bowling pin gun! The autos can load seven rounds and now so can I.

I have a 686+ 3". Shoots the 135 gr Gold Dot "Short Barrel" loads like a dream.
Good luck with the new gun.
Regards, Pete

Congratulations. You are going to be very happy. I carried a 4" early in my law enforcement career circa 1984. I traded it for something I no longer remember and finally traded recently for a 686-4 2 1/2 inch that will be with me to my final days. Great balance and feel and one of the best triggers that can be found, It will make you proud at the range. Enjoy.

I've got a dash 5 that I bought new in 1999. I think I still have the box and docs...have to go look in the pile. I carried it on duty for a couple of years. It was already smooth but after the department armorer got through with it it was even smoother. The dash 5 is MIM with the flat hammer but no IL. I recently found a dash 4 that has the hammer mounted firing pin. I won't be able to pick it up for a couple more weeks. Both are 7 shot. I'll probably sell the dash 5 after I get the dash 4 like I want it. It's hard to beat a 686 if you want a good revolver.

Thanks for all the good words guys. I mailed the check today, so maybe by next weekend I'll get my gun. I've shot the 4" and 6" and love them both. Plus the gun is a looker, along with being very accurate. I can't wait to pass this gun down to my son, the real question is, is my wife ever going to let me shoot it...she's a revolver gal.

Happy shooting,
Ryan Z.

I run 158gr gold dots through mine, do you think the recoil would be better with the 135gr?
