About a month ago I had one of those days on one of my favorite trout streams. Water was a little high, was not catching any fish and to top it off I broke the tip off an Orvis 4 piece fly rod (a stupid mistake on my part trying to free a snagged fly).

The rod was about 15 years old and was in excellent condition and was a mid price rod made in the USA (Vermont) Orvis rods made in the USA have a 25 year warranty regardless of how it got broke. They will repair or replace it for a service charge of $60 which includes shipping. (free to them if you drop it off by an Orvis store.)

Received a brand new Orvis Recon Rod ($429 in catalog) today. It is one of their latest models and has a 25 year warranty. While you pay a little more for an Orvis rod - the warranty service is excellent. (I broke one about 5 years ago and they fixed that one.)

Yep. Broke 2. One my fault, one just broke on the pickup. Orvis replaced them both. One was an upgrade because they didn't make that model anymore. Great service both times. Once over the phone (no stores yet) and once at the store in Richmond. I have a All rounder too, one of their first graphite rods from the good old days.

All my fly rods are Orvis, I only had to ever send one back for repair, their service was great and it didnt cost me anything. I bought a cheap tying vice from them, I think it was 29 bucks, this was many years ago, after about a year the jaws broke, I took the broken piece into work and mounted a piece and ran some tests and took pictures on the SEM and wrote out a report and sent it to them, they sent me back a vise that cost about 300 bucks, another time I ordered a pair of sun glasses, I ordered gray, they sent me green, I didnt bother to send them back, a year later I was up there fishing the Battenkill and stopped by the store, I was looking at the glasses and another guy came over and he liked the same ones that I bought, I told him I had a pair, the only problem I had was I ordered gray and they sent me green, the kid heard me say that and handed me a pair of grays. Ya know, while the only Orvis product I own is a money belt I got for traveling in SEA about 30 years ago, like you guys I don’t mind spending more upfront for good quality and good aftercare.

(One of these days I may even be able to wear that Orvis belt again!)

Orvis, Sage and all the other top of the line usually have that type of warranty, which is great.
One reason that if you have the money, it is well worth it, since we all
will have "Those Day's" out there on the stream or in a boat and don't
forget the car door or window!!

A old split bamboo with ruby red guides is my top cherished rod with and extra tip
that was handed down to me from my father .

I also have a few "Spun Glass" Fenwick, beater rods that I use in the bushes.

Love the sport................ from little Brookie's to large King Salmon.

Those old Fenwick glass rods were nice, I built a few of them, I think I still have a 6.5 ft 5 wt blank hanging around that I never got around to building.

I picked up a Orvis fly rod and reel at a yard sale once home discovered the gear teeth inside were stripped. I took it to the local Orvis store and they replaced it with a current model, they even swapped the line from the old one.
