Ours was yesterday evening. It was a large affair filled with tenderness and belly laughs.

The menu:

Turkey, spiral ham, cornbread dressing, English sloppy dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy, dumplings, green bean casserole, collards, glazed carrots, corn pudding, cranberry sauce and yeast rolls.

Afters:

Candied yams, sweet potato pecan souffle, chocolate cheesecake pie, pumpkin pie, pumpkin bread, apple crisp and nanner pudding.

Dave would have loved it.

PS: I bet I haven't taken a dozen steps today.

If I ate some of all that good food, my only option would be to roll. I'm ready to roll !

Seems like the entire clan likes sweets.

I wish I could have sat in "Very Nice Menu"

It would have been like 3 add ons at the table, only one additional chair needed.;)

Have to go, I'm really hungry now.

Rusty—I have no doubt he did! I don’t know much—the older I get the more I realize how little I know—but I have gotten one thing figured out during my times. Our loved ones never leave us, they are always with us and we are always with them. We just don’t realize it some of the time.

Growing up we had the big meal on Sunday. Thanksgiving day was a legal hunting day we spent in the duck blind with granddad. With any luck we would have the Canada goose or canvasback we shot on Thursday - Saturday on the table on Sunday. We kids had a contest to see who could find the most spent shot in our meat!

Glad you were able to be with family and had a good time. Holidays can be tough but having people you care about around helps. My wife and I just had her brother for Thanksgiving. With my wife being disabled it was all on me and I was exausted by the end of the day but it was a good day. Wish I had more family or close friends around though. I use to love the big get together's at my aunts house for the holidays with my brothers, cousins and aunts and uncles. Some great memories for sure.

well, after all, food is love. Who says you actually have to be there to feel it?

So glad you had a good day and there was family around. We had 20 family members over and tons of food, wish all the kids and grand-kids could have made it but some are so far away. Thankful for the one's that are close enough to come. Hug Ruthie and the grand-kids for us.
