I got a lot of acres that look about like that. Fortunately for me and unfortunately for shooters, the plague wiped most of them prairie dogs out.
We only saw about 30 at the second to last annual pasture poodle shoot yesterday. Since the shootin' was poor, those fellers resorted to entertainin' themselves with a big ol .50 rifle
AT the last shoot they poked away at a rock between the long white vertical ridge and the smaller one off to the left. Well they plumb destroyed that one so they decided to try something more challenging.
Ya see that kinda horizontal white rock ridge just below the horizon? Well they started on it and then went to work on a vertical face at the left end of that ledge.
I kept hearing comments like " I used the bottom mil-dot and held about even with the top of Laramie Peak." You can't quite see Laramie Peak in this picture, but it's out there. About 40 miles out there. The layer of clouds you can see in the distance are about even with the top of Laramie Peak.
We kinda calculated that rock was about 1 1/2 miles out there.
After several rounds, a big ol buck antelope come scurryin' out of the sage brush about half way to the rock. I reckon the crack of those rounds going about 300 feet over his head must have woke that rascal up.
You had to have field glasses to even see the antelope.
