Hey Steve: That last pic, lizard got a scorpion? Extra spicy?!

Nope. That is a small Leopard Lizard gulping down an immature Whiptail Lizard.

Suppose I should name them all.

Desert Spiny Lizard.
Horned Lizard (Horny Toad), precise species probably the desert Horned Lizard.
Desert Collared Lizard, AKA Great Basin Collared Lizard.
Chuckwalla.
Leopard Lizard eating a juvenile Whiptail.

Rare for a pileated woodpecker to be on a vehicle. AKA “ Woodie the Woodpecker”

I’ve got 10 photos of him performing on my car, we watched him for 15 minutes . I assume he was captivated by his reflection, I’d never witnessed such behavior before. We were camping in Lake Kissimmee State Park-deer, owls, Sandhill cranes, snail kites, hawks, alligators-a beautiful spot in Central Florida.

our neighborhood wildlife.. turkeys... they hang in our backyard for about an hour or so everyday. oak tree and garden brings them in on their daily food loop...

As and avid upland bird hunter, in addition to pheasant and grouse, I've bagged all six huntable species of U.S. quail: Bobwhite, Valley, Mountain, Scaled, Mearn's, and Gambel's. My favorite upland bird, is the Gambel's quail.

These photos I took just over my back fence.

Not the greatest pictures, I was inside and didn't want to run them off. Whitetails are as plentiful as squirrels in a city park around here and they love my Chestnut tree come Fall. These two are a 4-point (in the back) and a 7-point (foreground, has a small 7th point near the last big point on one side). There were also two yearling does with an adult doe and another doe with spotted twins. I get a herd in the pasture sometimes, as many as 12 or 14.

I had a mated pair of Red Shouldered Hawks a few years ago who frequented my pasture and surrounding woods. I couldn't get a good shot of both, they were sitting on fence posts about 50 feet apart.

I think hawks are the most interesting of all birds. Owls are right up there with them Both, much more interesting than eagles IMHO, I mean eagles are are big and powerful and all, but actually far from being as effective predators as hawks.

Maybe I am tainted by seeing eagles standing knee deep in tubs of fish guts near around the canneries in Alaska or sitting in the masts of crab boats looking for an easy meal.
