For several years I have lusted after this revolver, loving the oak leaf intertwined with the scroll. I think it is one of Russ Smith's nicer projects and I was happy to get it here to the AZ.

I hope that you enjoy the photos:

A few more photos in post 17 below.

Thanks for letting me share,

Another absolutely stunning engraved gun, Richard. Thank you for sharing with us. :)

One of these days I plan to make a trip to AZ to see the Pima Air Museum and the Boneyard and it would be really cool to meet up with some of our AZ forum members somewhere whenever I do so.

Nice gun! Looks to be the same one pictured on page 294 of the 1972 GUN DIGEST.

Karl:

Thanks for posting that page of Gun Digest:cool:. I cropped and rotated it a bit to make it easier to compare and I agree that it is the same gun. Interesting that the Gun Digest photo does not show the rear sight? Makes me wonder if the photo was taken prior to the gun being blued and final assembled?

Thanks again,

Wow, that's a nice bonus on that acquisition then Richard. Not only is that gun beautiful, but is also a gun that has been recorded in print too.

An absolutely stunning revolver. Thank you for sharing it. The picture from Gun Digest looks pretty familiar so I am sure that I saw it when I used to pour over every issue. Congrats. You know if you ever need an idea for a Karma...{;>))

I don't know much about engraved guns but know what I like. And I think I really like oak leaf style engraving more than floral. Something I have noticed is that many of the Germanic looking oak leaf engraving is higher relief than the usual scroll or floral. Would that indicate a more labor intensive process to remove all that metal ?
