Hello all...

Just a quick question: as we all know, the price of ammo is long past the stratosphere . So, I've been scooping up Winchester and Remington .45 ACP ball ammo every chance I get. The cheapest place I've found the target ammo is at, wait for it, Walmart. I hate Walmart but their ammo is the cheapest around.

I've noticed however, when I shoot the stuff, I get a "jam" or a feed type malfunction more times than I'd like to see. Just to be sure it wasn't my 1911, and it killed me to do this, I shot 25 rounds of Speer Gold-Dot ammo through the same 1911 and never had a problem; other than I'm broke now.

Has anybody experienced this type of problem? I'd sure like to hear your input and/or experiences regarding bulk target ammo.

Thanks...

Nope. I buy Wally world ammo all the time. Never had a problem. Just yesterday i ran 400 rounds of 9mm WWB 115gr fmj through my G19. Only problem was my thumb was sore from reloading the mags.

Last time around i ran 200 rounds of Remington 45acp HP through my Norinco 1911 followed by a 100 rounds of Wolf. No problems.

I too love Wallyworld. Their Winchester bulk is fantastical and I have never had a problem with it.

On the other hand, EVERYTHING labeled Remington has caused major problems.

WW white box is all I shoot when I'm not shooting my own handloads. Never had a problem, except it seems a bit weak.

I buy my .45 ACP ammo at Wal-Mart. I shot a lot of the Tula ammo. It works 100% perfectly in my Rock Island Armory 1911-A1 and my Springfield Armory GI 1911-A1. I also use the Winchester White Box 230 gr. FMJ's. They are equally excellent in both pistols. I use the Tula at the indoor range as all brass that lands in front of the line is not recoverable. When shooting at the outdoor club range, I should whatever I've got as I can pick up fired brass. I have not noticed any difference in ammo produced by these two manufacturers with regard to perceived recoil, POI vs. POA, function, etc.

Thanks for the input...my Springfield 1911 Micro Compact is new (50-75 rounds) and perhaps, needs to be fired more to "break" it in. I'm not limp-wristing it either. Nonetheless, I'm glad to hear that Walmart target ammo (Winchester and Remington) hasn't given you guys fits and is relatively good ammo. Thanks again and I'll just keep sending lead downrange...
