I'm looking at purchasing the PA Advanced Red DOT for my Sport. It comes with integrated AR height mount. With the A2 post that's on the Sport would this be a 1/3 or an absolute co-witness? If it's an absolute is there an adapter to get lower 1/3? I've emailed PA the same question but they haven't gotten back to me. Hopefully this isn't too dumb of a question and PA is still laughing at it.

Thank you

If you are looking at the ones with integrated absolute co-witness mounts, that's what you get. You can't slip anything under the integrated mount to lift it it to lower 1/3 because the difference is too small. Choose another red dot with optional riser mounts listed on each page when you select an optic.

Thanks Phil. And guess what I found when I decided to pay attention :)

Lot of risers to choose from. Any suggestions?

Thanks again

If you want a QD mount get the best. They list the Bobro which is top shelf or order a LaRue. Without QD, the $20 Primary Arms will work.

This is what I purchased from Primary Arms the other day and the reasoning behind it.

1. Price...$99 plus $20 for absolute co-witness riser.
2. The dot is the same as the ADS according to the specs
3.Has the flip up caps. I like that better than the bra.
4. Battery life is considerably less (1000 hrs) but I don't care as I do not shoot in competition. I'll just carry a couple of spares in my grip.
5. I'm too beat up to run-n-gun. My Sport would handle it, the sight probably would, but my tired body would not.
6.Never knew that I had an astigmatism but I guess I do. The red dot does not appear round in a lot of cases. Not the fault of the sight. It's my eyes. I've tried the Aimpoint Pro, the Vortex Strikefire and looked thru an Eotech. All of them produced the same results. Starburst or squiggly dot. Sometimes it even looks like an < sign. I never know quite where the center of the dot is.

Took it to the range the other day. Shot a few rounds at 50 yards (that's as far as the indoor range goes) Was shooting from a bench with no support other than my elbows. (no gun rest). My results weren't too bad considering that at 50 yds it's hard to see the center of the target much less trying to guess what is the impact point of the starbursting dot is.

My point of this rather long winded post is that you do not need to spend tons of money on an expensive red dot. It all depends on your use and your eyesight. I certainly mean no offense to you people that have good eyesight and do shoot competition.
On a high note... It's still tons of fun :D:D

Mydogmax, I like your post because I can relate to your situation. Given your eyesight, according to the target, the Bad Guy has more to worry about than your Astigmatism.

Just thinking, do you think a green dot would make a difference? Probably won't see one for a while because of battery life.

Actually the Vortex Strikefire 2 that I bought at Cabelas (and returned) had both the red and green dot. Both were distorted to me. The green was even a little worse.
The long and the short of it is...age sucks.

I got to thinking... even with the cheapest PA mount ya still got $200 in it. I saw the new Aimpoint ACO with mount at Optics Planet for $359 free shipping.
