Is there going to be a Pacific Northwest get together this spring?

I live in north eastern Oregon, but could travel some if there is one. Mabe have kind of a swap meet of sorts.

I've never been to one, don't know any of the real S&W collectors. Wanted to go to the one they had near Gig Harbor last year but couldn't get away to do so.

Are guys talking about getting together for an actual shooting/social gathering, or a collector gathering? Or both?

Go figure! I just talked to Mark aka:cflier about another Awesome Outing and he isn't in a position to do anything at this point. If someone has another location, I'd be happy to try and make things work. The last one was at the Cascade R&P Club house but didn't get much attendance but then it was not the best time for traveling. It takes me a fair amount of time to get that location lined up so if somebody has another location it would be helpful. I'm game. Just remember the WAC Gun Show Schedule if you do the planning.

I know there are smaller rooms available for decent rent in the Linn County Exposition & Fair grounds just off I-5 in Albany. Handy to lots of things.

I can contact the facility manager for prices if need be. I am not in a position to make a show happen, but could contribute some time.

Speak up. I have no contact with the collectors but would like to do so.

I made the Gig Harbour one , it was a hoot . I got to meet some of the most friendly people you can have the pleasure of meeting . I really need to get off the fence and apply for membership ( I was kind of the only semiauto fan there as I remember )

In the right place it can be both but finding a place and getting someone to "Host" the event hasn't been easy.

If there's a way to Gig Harbor that doesn't involve Tacoma or Seattle....maybe I'd be able to make it.

On the other hand, the Albany site is just a few miles from the ARPC club grounds, with quite elaborate shooting opportunities.

WTH, it ALSO has TWO club houses, capable of meetings holding upwards of 80 or so at a time...

Is there any reason I should contact these folks about possible rental?

Albany is an easy 90 minute drive south of Portland on I-5.

There is a way, but you will get lost a few times. (Don't believe MapQuest, etc. I found that out the hard way!) It involves going up 101 from Olympia and taking back roads from Shelton.

Well, it's getting "Close" in the minds of many. With Mark tied up can you get us in there again for another gathering???

How many would be willing to go as far as the Cascade R&P now that something like Summer is here??? The Club House has an indoor range but it is .22RF only and the outdoor range is very busy these days, on weekends, so going there isn't a good idea.

Here a Google Map to the location:

I'll tell you the same thing I've told others - Give it a shot and we'll do what we can to help out.

I've been known to sneak my way into Oregon a time or two in the Past so you never know until you try. We did one in Vancouver WA(it Cost us $125.00 for the building but we all chipped in and covered the cost for the "Host" that way) a while back and it worked out pretty well. The nicest thing about the Gig Harbor site is the price - FREE - which makes everything much easier. We have discussed this issue a few times and nobody really wants to get into the whole thing of charging for tables etc. because that makes us look too much like a "For Profit" Gun Show and that's a whole bunch of work - especially, paperwork.

Of course, we all know we will need to pay attention to all Local, State and Federal Laws for these things and that's another reason using a Gun Club or Range is helpful.

That's true. I made a very diligent effort the last time around to find a place near my neck of the woods but it was just an exercise in frustration. I visited these places in person and all of the "rental halls" or community centers were a minimum of $350, and they just went up (way up) from there. Most of them were in the $500-$750 range. I did find a "free" room rental at the local Fire Department but it was one of the conference rooms in the office. I asked if they could move the engines out to the driveway so we could use the engine bay but they were not too receptive to that idea.

What size group might be interested?
What season of the year?

The ARPC may consider 'host' if I can give them accurate information.

As a member I'm not sure what the complexities may be, but we have a dandy site with easy I-5 access a few miles south of Albany.

I have no social skills and no personal drive to accomplish such a meeting.....but I would be willing to do a bit of the local footwork with the proper encouragement if there were any interest.
