Hi! First-time poster here, though I've lurked on the Forum for years...

When I bought my used 5906 a while ago, I was doing research online about replacement grips. I stumbled upon a 2012 thread in the Indiana Gun Owners forum about white "parade grips" for the 59xx series pistols. My S&W 5906 - Page 2

It was love at first sight. :D

When I couldn't find any other reference to these or any potential source for them, I decided to have my own made up via Cerakoting a new grip. Here's the result:

(Sorry for the image size. And yes, the metal needs some work - it was a police trade-in - and that's going to happen soon!)

What do you guys think?

Hot... or not?

I like the way it looks in the picture, especially how you darkened the S&W logo. I think it would look better on a dark pistol for the contrast, but as we know, the black/blue 3rd Gens are somewhat scarce outside of the 915/910.

I think your grip would look better on a 915. I'm not sure how well the cerakote coloring on delrin (xytel?) will hold up, or if it will resist dirt, sweat and flung lubricant and powder schmeg.

Haha, I hope it doesn't come off as a backhanded compliment — I think it looks nice in the picture but I don't know if it could (or should?) start a trend.

If I recall right, one of the semi autos was offered with a light gray grip in the early 1990's.

Welcome to the S&W Forums! You made a great entrance and I like the parade grips. Some judicious polishing on that 5906 and you will have a nice BBQ gun.

Ya got me...

Thanks, guys. Yeah, it is sorta BBQ gun-like, now that I consider it. I agree they'd look nice on a blue gun, but I sold my 459 and have no blue 3rd gen pistols.

I thought the ceramic coating was supposed to be pretty durable; isn't that the point? But asa BBQ gun, I don't think hard-core durability is going to be a main focus/problem. Time will tell.

Pass me one of those cold ones, willya?

I will have to look through my stash because I picked up a pair of white grips for a 469 many years ago. I have never been able to find any info on them.
Enjoy that great piece!

I know they offered them on the 3913 LS Ladysmith. My local indoor range had one as a rental gun.
