Parts diagram

Ok I know thry have never made a parts diagram. But how do I remove the Barrel Shroud? I would like to oil the barrel to prevent rust on the out side of the barrel Google and forum search for the diagram are showing nothing!

Maybe search on to clean a mp15-22 there might be a full stripping shown?.

And if you want to opt to go the better route, you can purchase a steel
made in the USA barrel nut tool from either Jody at Tacticool22.com or
from Randy (Shooboy) I think Brownells is carrying his tool.

I like the sugestion of making witness markings

There is a parts diagram here on the forum with part numbers just do a search. There are also threads about removing the barrel which the barrel nut holds the handguard on.

Make sure you follow the instructions and clamp the barrel not the upper receiver when you take the nut off. If you don't you will probably be sorry as several have damaged their upper by clamping it.

Using the tool to convert the 15-22 to use a real AR handguard can make what you want to do a lot easier. I currently use an AP Custom carbon fiber handguard on my 15-22 and it comes off its barrel nut clamp with 3 little screws and makes the entire job a lot easier. A screw on AR handguard works pretty well for taking one on and off a lot also.
