Pastrami or Corned beef? The Reuben debate

I enjoyed a nice sandwich in Las Vegas at the New York Carnegie Deli.
Contained one pound of Pastrami & one pound of Corned Beef.
It was a "Killer" sandwich for $30.

I am a connoisseur of the finer healthier foods in life like corned beef, pastrami, liverwurst etc..No boneless/ skinless chicken breast for me!

But the big conflict I have when I am at a deli ordering a sandwich or making one at home: which is better on a reuben:
Corned beef or pastrami?
I currently prefer pastrami but but reserve the right to change my mind next week.
What say you?

With apologies to Crocodile Dundee...

"That's not a corned beef sandwich...THIS is a corned beef sandwich!" (From the Carnegie Deli in Manhattan.)

586L-FRAME,

Now that VEGAS DELI deal is a real PIG-OUT SUPREME.

Dangnabbit, I hungry again.

mbliss57 This is all your fault, I've got to get up and go root around the frige.

Trivia:

Corned beef isn't really Irish. The Irish ate bacon and cabbage. Bacon wasn't a high quality food in Ireland (hence the expression,"eating high on the hog") When the "croppies" (aka "bog Irish") emigrated from Ireland to the US, they couldn't afford bacon. The Jewish people were eating corned (meaning "salted") beef or smoked it (Pastrami). The Irish made it their own.

Slan!
