This 1950 beauty was discovered in and rescued from a pawn shop near Dollywood.

38 S&W

I found this all original BSR in .38 S&W in a pawn shop a few years ago. No proof marks but it letters to a British contract purchase. SN on stocks match, too.

NICE!! Wish I could find one. The last few years I have become quite fond of the caliber. Must be, I just counted my inventory and I have some 1500 rounds loaded, plus some snake shot.:D

Have to agree with raljr1, pawn shops have been a source for a significant part of my aggregation. Good ones are few and far between these days but every once in awhile one shows up. Here are a few; 10-8 3 inch, 32H&R Mag LS, 27-2 8 3/8, pre-27 5 inch, 1950 Military 44 all rescued from pawn shops.

I used to find great deals all the time at pawn shops--like 10+ years ago. But more recently they seem to price everything at the highest price ever paid for that model anywhere in any condition. And won't budge. "These are selling on Gunbuster for $1300." OK...there is one LISTED for that, in perfect condition but a more desirable variation. And there are no bids for 9 months.

I have mostly stopped even going in.

That's a beauty. I usually try to hit some of the pawnshops in Sevierville, and Pidgeon Forge when we go to Gatlinburg. I will be heading that way in a few weeks....

Sevierville, that's the ticket. The day I stumbled into this guy's shop, he had a 6-1/2 inch blued .44 Magnum in beautiful shape, pre-Dirty Harry, with the black box, etc., etc., but I couldn't afford both so I went with the one pictured in my original post.

I wish you good hunting!

Like others I un-pawned many of my collection over the years. This one, however, is one of my favorites. It was actually spotted by another forum member who contacted me and worked with the Dallas pawn shop to help me acquire it: 3rd model 44, shipped to Wolf & Klar (Ft.Worth) who undoubtably did the 'pawn shop' engraving. Note that Wolf & Klar was also a pawn shop. The gun was mechanically inop when I received it... other forum members helped me make the repairs and find the parts. Thanks all.

That's a find in nickel too, I like nickel finished guns.
Finding used guns is tough here locally, slim Pickens. They must have a fast turn over.

Do you notice more used guns in pawn shops, gun shops during bad times?

$400 for a Nylon 66? And mine is in the closet where it is handy for the next invasion of the armadillos instead of safe in the safe? $65 at my gun range's swap meet but that was 20 years ago. That may make it the most appreciated gun I own!

Bought that one a couple years back....wanted one for a long time and they are pricey these days.....not the most expensive 22 I own, however...

The neatest revolver that i ever picked up in a pawn shop was a Webley Wilkinson Model 1900 Self Extracting Revolver, unfortunately it was shaved and reblued. The neat part of the story is that I had Wilkinson research it and they sent me a copy of the ledger where it was sold in December 1904 to a Lt E.A.Osborne of the Royal Engineers. I have since been able to research his military career. He served in both world wars, was awarded a DSO and was involved in the Dunkirk evacuation eventually becoming the commandant of the School of Signals. My revolver looks like this one.

I've bought a couple of S & W from a pawn shop in Rapid City SD. If my memory is correct, it was Curly's Pawn Shop. Bought a beautiful Model 12 Air Weight Model to have it stolen along with my luggage in an airline trip. When I bought it, it had only 1 box of 50 shot threw it. Owner said "To Light."
After the airline paid for my Model 12, I went back to Curly's to discover the same guy that traded in the Model 12 had traded in a Model 15 as also "To Light." Bought it in a heartbeat as same thing, only one box of 50 shot. Still have it today as my main revolver.
By the way, when I was in Curly's at a later date, he offered me the same guys .357 that he shot one box and traded it in for something bigger. Wish I had as it was a beautiful stainless steel Model 28, I think. Age is getting onto me as to this model.
I bought all of my Thompson Contender receiver, scopes and barrels from a Pawn Shop in Illinois, but can't remember it's name.
