Picked up my PC .44 Magnum Hunter a few weeks ago and was not pleased with the optic that came with the gun. So, I mounted up a old school aimpoint and sighted it in.

Shot good enough on paper, at least MOA of deer but the thing was so heavy it was a handful to try to shoot one handed. I knew I had to make a change, so I took a Holosun HS5507C off a Walther (that I never shoot) and mounted it up on the PC. Big difference in the way it points and feels.

Cannot wait to go sight it in and see how she does. This Holosun has many features that the old Aimpoint has not. Shake awake power, it goes to sleep if you do not touch it for a short period of time and a very clear optic and dot.

Hope it holds up under .44 magnum loads.

That would definitely make Dirty Happy proud. That's a beast.

Hi 75Vette,

What kind of mount is that? Having my optic mounted in place of the rear sight may solve my issue of a hunting holster.

And BTW, I shoot one handed when necessary and safe if my furry target is off to the extreme right of my field of venison.

Prefer two handed of course. I have pretty beefy hands and forearms but are not as twisty and agile as I once was.

Thanks, Karnivore

Got one too. Mounted a Sig Sauer Romeo 4c on it. My only problem is with these 70 year old eyes I see three red dots in a jagged triangle shape . O'well, don't hunt anymore but still have a blast shooting it anyway :D.

Karnivore, that's a Raptor mount made by one of our forum members revolver ph. You can google his site. I have four now on different guns and they're jam up. BTW I think we're all getting less agile these days.

I SHOOT TWO NO DASH, 8 3/8" REVOLVERS, A M617 AND A M686. WHICH CARRY 30MM ULTRADOTS IN NO-DRILL MOUNTS, IN ORDER TO PRESERVE THE ORIGINALITY OF MY REVOLVERS......

DESPITE THEM BEING LIGHTER AND SHORTER THAN MY VINTAGE AIMPOINT (MOUNTED ON MY RUGER MK II GOVERNMENT TARGET MODEL IN A B-SQUARE NO DRILL MOUNT) THUS BEING POSITIONED FURTHER REARWARD, WITH MORE WEIGHT OVER THE CYLINDER, I FIND IT NEAR IMPOSSIBLE TO DIRECT EFFECTIVE FIRE, USING A ONE HAND STANCE. TWO HANDED, AND ESPECIALLY OFF A BENCH, BOTH OF THESE REVOLVERS SHOOT LIKE RIFLES......

THAT BEING SAID, IMHO---NOT MANY SHOOTERS COULD MANAGE YOUR PC REVOLVER WITH ONE HAND, WITH OR W/O YOUR AIMPOINT---AND I DOUBT MANY WOULD WANT TO......

OF COURSE WHATEVER YOUR OPINION OR REASON FOR DOING SO, IT IS CERTAINLY VALID FOR YOU, AND DOES NOT WARRANT ANY SCRUTINY OR CRITICISM FROM THE LIKES OF ME......

YOU SEEM TO HAVE RESOLVED YOUR PROBLEM PERFECTLY, WITH THE ADDITION OF THAT HOLOSUN OPTIC. IT LOOKS RIGHT AT HOME ON YOUR VERY IMPRESSIVE REVOLVER.......

HAVING NO EXPERIENCE WITH THAT STYLE OF OPTIC, I SHARE YOUR CONCERN REGARDING ITS ABILITY TO WITHSTAND THE POUNDING OF THE .44 MAGNUM CALIBER......

MY OTHER CONCERN WOULD BE PROTECTING IT IN THE FIELD. I WOULD HAVE A MAKER STITCH UP A CHEST CARRY, CUSTOM FLAP HOLSTER, FOR SAFE DRY CARRY IN ANY KIND OF WEATHER, AND EASY ACCESSIBILITY WHEN THE SITUATION WARRANTS IT.......

I USED TO HUNT WITH A HIGHLY POLISHED, DEEPLY "ROYAL BLUE" FINISHED 8" PYTHON, IN ALL KINDS OF TERRAIN, IN ALL KINDS OF WEATHER. IT HAD NO OPTICS. PROTECTING IT FROM THE ELEMENTS, AND THE OCCASIONAL KNOCKS AND DINGS OF HUNTING, WAS ALWAYS ON MY MIND. I CARRIED IT IN A HUNTER STYLE, OPEN TOP, SHOULDER RIG OF WELL PADDED CORDURA, THAT SLUNG THE WEAPON UNDER MY WEAK SIDE ARM. I KEPT THE PYTHON AND THE HOLSTER COATED WITH PURE SILICONE SPRAY, AND WIPED THEM DOWN, AFTER EVERY SESSION IN THE WOODS.....

ONE OF THE MAJOR REASONS THAT I JUMPED SHIP, FROM DECADES OF SHOOTING COLT D/A REVOLVERS EXCLUSIVELY, TO PURCHASING AN 8 3/8" M629 CLASSIC HUNTER, (APART FROM MOVING UP IN CALIBER) WAS ITS WEATHER RESISTANCE, AND THE EASE OF MAINTENANCE OF THE FINISH......

BELOW ARE PICS OF MY LAST BLUED COLT, ONE OF ME CARRYING IT, BEFORE DONNING MY ORANGE, AND VENTURING OUT IN SEARCH OF WILD BOAR, AND MY VERY FIRST S&W--- THE M629 CLASSIC HUNTER, AND ITS 3" BROTHER---MY SECOND S&W PURCHASE.....
