I've competed with Performance Center 627's in the 5" and 2.625" barrel lengths.

At 35 oz. will the TRR8 327 provide a lighter shooting faster moving gun or will the 627's 44 oz.'s of recoil control remain the best competitive choice?

I have found a TRR8 I want to buy, but don't want this to be an $1,100 experiment where I'm wrong.

Thanks for your counsel!

I like the 627 for USPSA shooting because the gun settles quickly for the second shot on double-taps. The 327 or R8 might be really good for steel shooting where you can use a light bullet and load to 750 fps. I have experienced some problems with bullet pull with a 327 during action shooting with heavy bullets. Bullet pull wouldn't be a big factor in Steel Challenge style shooting.

YMMV

I think most of the A plus shooters in my area use a 929, or a 627 with a titanium cylinder and 6" model 27 barrel.
The TRR8 would do good shooting steel, going from one target to another. But two on a target might be easier with a heavier gun, like the 5" 627 PC. I shot a 625 this year, just so I could use up some 230 gr bullets. Next year I'll shoot the 929.

Same as above. The 627 is the ticket for USPSA. Less recoil and better feel. The R8 is a little light but is good for target to target transitions. 627 is better for shot to shot splits.
