Some time ago I tried a piece software that filtered the incoming audio data stream to my PC. Through a series of circumstances, that software got deleted and now I cannot recall what the program was called. The software had this great user interface where you could change the frequency cutoffs of the filters you were applying on the fly.

By chance, would anybody here know what the software was called. TIA

I run some studio type stuff. there are a lot of toys to be had on the recording / production side. and many translate well to end user sound reproduction.

various flavors of EQ are natural additions ... many are offered as free vst plug ins. all you need is a player that'll take vst

a counter intuitive, but rewarding tool is compression
as a signal becomes louder, it turns down the volume at a user defined rate. the end result is then turned back up.
after this treatment, you can drive a signal harder, without clipping.
you will have to hunt for this one.
Its called 5ocery by platinum ears.
Its compression in 5 bands with adjustable crossover points.
Enhancement options abound.

LVS, I'm curious as to what your purpose is in filtering the INCOMING stream, rather than outgoing. I run a Mac nearly all the time but also have a Winows laptop and am always interested in audio processing software.

Edit: Isee that the link you provided is for system-wide EQ, which suggests it actually affects output. But probably the same result as regards llistening. It would work on any audio source, whether an internal audio file or YouTube or whatever.

I wonder if you could Google audio filtering software UI and check the images to see if anything looks familiar?
Or might there be some "orphaned" support files still on the machine that weren't removed when the program was deleted that might give a clue to the program? I'm not that familiar with Windows but on the Mac there are usually support files in the "Library" folder

Take a look in the Registry under "current_user\software" and look for your old app entries.
