This topic has been brought up before and to my knowledge, S&W has never revealed what red dot sight it is.
I believe prior discussions have come close to identifying it, along with a few undesirable characteristics of the S&W execution of the concept.
First, the sights are standard height. Only a mini-sight that is low would fit on this small gun and have any chance of co-witnessing the irons through the RDS. That is made by Shield, an English company that has made RDS for years, even allowing others to rebrand their products. Their older, low end model, the J-Point, appears to be this sight, and the price point seems right. For another $150 you can buy yourself a better model, or the best Shield optic for about $250 more.
I have had two Shield RMS versions on my Shield 1.0, and they are both great sights. I would not get a J-point, if that's what S&W is offering. The cut for the J-Point and the RMS are the same, I believe. Depending on what you want, you might get your Shield without their optic and get a better model sight. If this is for concealed carry, I would not choose to go with the low end.
But there is another problem. This model Shield has a fiber optic green front sight and an orange fiber optic rear sight. The tubes are known for being fragile. Again, not the best for CC.
Then think of your sight picture: Green front dot, two orange rear dots, and a red dot in the screen. Such a wonderful array of colors is for a circus, not anything practical for CC, IMO. Maybe you'll need to change out your sights.
Porting is usually not recommended for a CC gun.
So I'm suggesting you re-analyze your needs and see if this model meets them.
