Anybody buy from Penn recently? Has he got his regular stuff (.38 DEWCs, .38 LSWCs, .45 LSWCs) in stock?

A friend is getting into reloading (using my Dillon to learn) and will need a reliable source of cast bullets for his XD45 Compact.

Well, lets just say I "tried to order" from him. I placed a order for 2000 bullets and then sent several e mails trying to find out what the current price would be and total with shipping. He never replied so I called and called until I reached him and canceled the order. Yes. he is busy, but I want to know how much something costs if they have my credit card.

Master Cast is a good supplier but apparently in the same situation as other cast bullet suppliers business being at the moment to much of a good thing.

PLEASE BE ADVISED AS WE ARE RUNNING 2 MONTHS BEHIND ON OUR ORDERS THAT WE WILL STOP TAKING EMAIL ORDERS UNTIL WE CAN FILL THE ONES WE GOT. IF YOU HAVE PLACED AN ORDER AND I CONFIRMED IT PLEASE DON'T CALL OR EMAIL ON THE STATUS AS THIS JUST TIES UP THE PHONE AND EMAIL. WHEN WE FILL THE ORDER WE WILL GET BACK TO YOU AND IF YOU STILL WANT THE ORDER WE WILL SHIP IT. NO ADDITIONS TO THE ORDERS, THEY ARE AS THEY STAND. WE WILL START TO TAKE PHONE ORDERS ON THE27TH OF APRIL. PLEASE BE PATIENT WHEN CALLING AS THE PHONE NEVER QUITS FROM 9-5. WE HOPE THIS IS NOT A LONG TERM THING AND THINGS GET BACK TO NORMAL IN A FEW MONTHS.
THANK YOU FOR UNDERSTANDING

I have three words for everyone:

MISSOURI BULLET COMPANY

Brad is one of the best in the business. I'm a long time customer of his, but just ordered some .45s from him on a Sunday and they were on my door step on Tuesday! His website leaves nothing to the imagination...cost and shipping is very clear cut.

Good luck.

The last couple of years scrap metal prices have been very volatile due to the demands of overseas industry for our metals. This made it hard for casters to give a set price for their bullets. With 2-3 months lead time in back orders you could be paying more for the lead than the price of the bullets you made from it. Right now we seem to have a "Obama Scare" hording cycle going on for anything related to guns.

Giving customers the right to cancel once the order is ready to ship seems a reasonable way to deal with the situation.
