I'm seeing this more and more, and it's starting to drive me nuts. Someone in the passing lane pacing the car in the slow lane, never checking their mirrors, and seem to have no idea there's a quarter mile line of traffic behind them. I have to go into the slow lane and pass on the right because they never move over.....even after 15 vehicles in a row pass them on the right. If I were a state cop I would make my mission to ticket as many of these people as possible. (CT has left-lane laws)

In the city I tend to stay in the left lane because it's just faster, but I can understand open highway and I am in the right lane then.

I drove for a living and have witnessed this behavior for decades. It seem the moment a good well manner person gets behind the wheel, they leave their manners at home. Here in the mountains, roads are usually 2 lane only with few passing places. People drive slow for what ever reason and have a mile of traffic backed up behind them. They are obviously not in a hurry, but will never pull over and let people by. Heard one talk in the local restaurant that he drove 92 miles at 20 mph because the road was snow packed. He did say he couldn't see the end of the line of cars behind him but ASSUMED they didn't care about driving 20 mph in a 65 mph zone. These same rude people pull into one of the few gas stations, get to the pump, then walk the dog, got to the bathroom, go shopping in the store, then gas up, then wash the windows, go buy gum they forgot to buy the first time, get some lottery tickets, wait for the kids to get out of the bathroom, buckle up, put on the sun glasses, remember they didn't empty the trash, unbuckle, empty the trash, rebuckle and slowly pull away from the pump, without the slightest guilt of making a dozen people wait on them.

Left lane law in Colorado only applies to the main highways.Locally if you need to make a left turn you had better be in that lane a couple of blocks ahead of your destination or you aren't getting in.

My peeve is the people who constantly change lanes to gain a few feet when none of the lanes are moving.

My biggest pet peeve. People don't give a **** about others. Only about themselves.

This is one of my biggest pet peeves. On the open road the left lane is the PASSING lane. Whenever I come up on a slow driver all alone on the road in front of me, I get behind them and flash my headlights to get them to move over.
Then I get hollered at for the next 50 miles by Missus Fan.

I give them 10 seconds. After that i go by and just cut back in front of them

I try to have fun with it. I prefer to drive behind the left-laner's for a little bit giving them ample opportunity to move over, no flashing lights, no riding their bumper rudely. Just stay in their rear view mirror for a while so they get the hint. If no response, I go around them and get back in the left lane.

Then I start slowing down to whatever speed annoys them enough, that THEY themselves move to the center lane to go around ME because I am going too slow for them. As soon as they move over, I drive whatever speed I was originally intending to drive.

I figure if they are making the time to slow me down, I will make the time to return the favor.

Out here we only have 1 lane going in each direction. If you're driving in the wrong lane, you're driving the wrong way.
That being said, I've seen more than 1 person passing on a blind curve or over a hill.
Ain't no way I'll ever be in that much of a hurry.

Like snubby said one lane road's each direction, most of the road's out of town here are 45mph. and when you get to the hills and curves it sucks getting behind a farm tractor or a truck pulling a farm trailer full of hay. But I don't mind them as this is their living. And worst then that are the bike rider's that have to ride in the middle of the lane and feel they don't have to move to the side. Heck I think the tractors go faster then the bike riders and they will at least pull to the side when they get a chance, not the bike riders.

When I was working a guy from VA got pulled over for traveling too slow in the fast lane. Forgot how much he told me the ticket was for.

And how about the people that won't pass a 18 wheeler and pace behind them blocking the lane.

We were on the highway today and the person goes from the slow third lane to the passing lane and takes a nap going slower than they did in the slow lane. My misses was driving and she drove around them.

In seeing this today I feel bad for the truckers.

My sister literally has an IQ a point higher than Stephen Hawking's. Brilliant, creative, compassionate woman.

I haven't been forced to ride with her driving in several years, thank heaven. On the interstate she gets in the left lane and drives five miles an hour below the posted limit. I've tried telling her that's a good way to get ticketed, forced off the road or shot. She just says, "It's their problem."

Drives me bat poop crazy.

The Other Woman Driver

Friday night in September 2011, and it's football season. I see a 5 mile string of cars in front of me headed east bound on I-20 (Georgia) at mile post #165. Traffic is going 45 MPH on the interstate in clear weather in both lanes of the interstate highway.

Finally after 30 minutes I get to the front of the pack. In the right lane is a local County Sheriff Deputy driving a cop car doing 45 MPH, behind the CSD are two school busses carrying a football team, cheerleaders and some parents, followed by a second cop car doing 45 MPH.

In the left lane is a ~35 year old women driving a large 4 door sedan with white knuckles on the steering wheel absolutely terrified of passing either the school busses or the first police car. The second school bus finally dropped back far enough so other drivers could cut in front of the second school bus, pass the woman on the right and get back in the left lane and continue down the interstate at 70 MPH. The women was completely oblivious to the traffic jam she created.

Are they going the speed limit?

Just curious but what are you going to do when one of those people who's chain you went out of your way to jerk decides they don't care for you playing self appointed highway patrol and pulls out a gun and OH SNAP YOU started the fight?

It doesn't matter. CT has left lane laws. On a four lane parkway if you're not passing, you belong in the right lane....that really shouldn't have to be a law, but some folks don't have enough sense to see the danger in creating a situation that causes right lane passing.
