I know what you mean. When I was a child in NC, I may have been the only kid in my class who called Brazil nuts by their right name. Of course, that was a few years ago.

We called them the same thing in my part of East Texas, and funny as it sounds, I was just thinking about this on Friday.

I have also used the term bumbershoot before, not sure where I picked that up though.
