A good tool to use if you have not done so already is look at G.B. See what like guns have actually SOLD for. This should give you some help.
Welcome to the FORUM! Bob

Thank you for that Bob. If you are talking about the Blue Book - It does not give any pricing on this gun, unfortunately. I had tried that. If G.B. is other than the blue Book, can you enlighten me? Sorry for being so new to this.

Find out the Product Code, if you can. S&W made a whole slew of similar Performance Center M629's in this era, the differences being in the small details.

To me it looks like it could be a 170046 Hunter II, because it's Mag-Na-Ported and unfluted. If it's not that gun, it's a close relative. The 170046's I've seen were all -4's, so this would be a late production version, if that's what it is.

In good condition, these PC guns and their kin, will trade hands in the $2000 range with box and docs.

On GunBroker , next to the main search line, there is a tab marked advanced. From there you can search completed auctions for a realistic pricing guide. You will have to log in 1st (requires an acct). Search for Performance Center 629, 629-5, PC 629, and the like. Sort by bids to see which actually sold.

You can also list for $.01... and see what the auction market will bear.

Kernel, Thank you very much! I have the case and paperwork and will try to find the model #. Appreciate the help!

Sorry, what 44Wheelman said. Gun Broker is an internet sales site. Some HIGH price junk- good deals. I have bought around 15 guns there. If you get an account, it is free. Bob

Thank you folks. I did not put 2 & 2 together. Yes, I am on gunbroker often. Was not aware that I could look at past auctions under advanced though. I will try that!

Thank you

Folks; I found the info that was posted from when I originally purchased the gun late yesterday. 😊 Thanks for the input!

"629-5 *PRE-LOCK* Revolver - Low 2-DIGIT SERIAL NUMBER! Smith & Wesson Performance Center 629-5 Slab Side .44 Magnum "Hunter" **Pre-Lock**. Orange front ramp sight, white outlined rear sight, Integral Weaver base scope mount rail, Slab Sided with removable/adjustable weight system. Super smooth Performance Center DA/SA action with trigger stop, Factory Rosewood Grips. R A R E L Y seen for sale... This is NOT A COMPETITOR! It may look like one; however, it is stamped ".44 Magnum" on the right side of the barrel and is a pre-lock. The Majority of these were shipped to Germany and approximately 50 remained in the USA. There were only a handful of these produced before the internal lock was introduced and the Gun was renamed "Competitor". This Revolver has been fired minimally! And is in EXCELLENT condition. The only noticeable mark(s) are from the typical Cylinder Turn Line and a slight mark on the rail from a scope mount. Comes with Performance Center Aluminum Case, Original Factory: Registration Card, Safety & Instruction Manual, VICI protective Paper, Engraving Brochure, and spare Nylon weights and Allen Key."

Um, you bought the gun yesterday and are getting ready to sell it? Are you unhappy with the gun or are you going into business?

I may be wrong, but I've heard that flipping guns can get a person some very unwanted attention from "you know who".

I hear the 'flipping' comment but I believe there's a frequency involved as well.
You're are correct in one thing - you don't want to get their attention!

While the GB sold area often offers some guidance, I doubt that you are going to find one of these "seldom seen" PC guns in the sold data. Having a modest collection of early PC guns, I have noticed a significant variance in price for early PC guns on GB. So its a market timing and condition issue.
Wish I could be more specific on value. Best of Luck with your sale.

Guys. I think he meant that yesterday is when he found the information about the gun that he had purchased. I don't believe he meant he purchased the gun yesterday.

No matter what he meant, or when he got it, that is one sweet looking revolver and I would be proud to have it in my collection!

Yep the serial number is actually 63. The rest is just the model make. I would never get rid of this gun. It's the Smith & Wesson I've been looking for years!. I'd edc that and everything! It's a true work of art
