Performance Center - Makers of Great Firearms

Over the years I've owned a ton of PC guns: 945s of all stripe, 625s in a variety of configurations, K-Comps, ported Model 13s, etc., etc. But my all time favorites are the two I own now and don't intend to ever sell.

Pre-lock L-Comp with Spegel Extended and Checkered Boot Grips in Brazilian Rosewood. It is my carry weapon, loaded with Remington 125 grain Golden Saber.


Pre-lock Model 625-7 JMR with a 4" barrel, a Clements Long Range front sight and Nill Classic Grips.

3. Three Performance Center carries in .357 (I sold the PC 686+ as it was not near the shooter of the 627 or 586 and I'd find myself invariably grabbing a different weapon).

Should we consider the Registered Magnums as the original Performance Center guns, each gun was ordered to specs supplied by buyer ?

Not my first S&W revolver
my first wheel gun was a Colt Python 6''
I bought in 1974 and along the way
I've owned 3 686's 6inchers a 659
a 459 and a SC1911 that Leroy Thompson
once owned I confirmed via direct email with him.
And allegedly my 627 was his as well
I can't confirm it and I don't want bug him about
guns he used to own.
And who used to own it doesn't make a piece
shoot any better.
It's my first short barrel pistol and it shoots very smooth
recoil is very manageable. Even feels like a trigger
job may have been done, that trigger snaps - BONUS

I wasn't into PC handguns .....until I saw a 686+PC on another thread. It soon became my next grail gun. Had to have it, and I found a great deal. Always wanted an unfluted cylinder in a snub nose.

I believe this was the original Performance Center Gun the Registered Magnum. Ordered by the purchaser to their specs:
barrel length, grip preference, trigger pull both single and double action and distance sighted in with choice of ammo.

Are there any markings that designate that a gun is a Performance Center model? I know mine isn't but if I run across a S&W that someone is telling me is a PC model is there a way I can know for sure other than the original papers that came with the gun?
