Performance Centre .22 Victory

Looking to buy tyhe above pistol for Steel Competitions. There is about $300 difference between the Performance Centre version and the regular Victory pistol. If you own the Performance Centre pistol or the regular version I would be interested in hearing your experiences with the pistol. It looks like the ticket for steel shooting but...

I bought my regular Victory in Jan 2016. I have put over 2100 rounds through it. I really enjoy the pistol. I did have issues with it when I first got it. I had misfires and failures to eject. Once I stuck with ammo with at least 1100 fps it became trouble free. Once I went over 1500 rounds it could handle any .22lr I put through it. I learned early on to never use Remington Thunderbolt .22's in it.

Regular Victory

I bought my regular Victory in 2017. I had been reading about them on forums, they were inexpensive to begin with and Brownell's had them on sale. I immediately was impressed with it and after-market upgrades were readily available. I have added a Tandemkross trigger and halo and Altamont grips. It has become one of my favorite pistols to shoot. Whether the Performance Center model is worth the extra dollars, I couldn't say. I just kind of like picking my own add-ons and doing some of the work myself.

I have the P.C. Victory with the carbon fiber barrel . Excellent accuracy with Federal classics ,cci blaser, especially Remington target . Thunderbolts function ok but lead things up . My only complaint is the large competition mag release force me to change my grip and holstering ejects the mag, a little to sensitive , but wouldn’t get rid of it to accurate.

Is weight saving the only advantage the carbon fibre has over the fluted barrel or is there something else as well?

To me it's the difference in weight and the cool look factor.

I have two of the regular models. Both have Tamdenkross triggers and halo and grips. One is set up with Red dot sight and after market barrel with a compensator. Not real pickey about ammo. I probably have more in the one with red dot than the pc model but wouldn’t trade it for one. Go with the regular one and at least add the trigger. If you don’t like the grips you can change them also.

I do think the fluted barrels weight may help with recoil control in rapid fire even though minimal .

I have the PC with vortex red dot and carbon fiber barrel and compensator. I’ve had it about three years. Initially it had ejection issues so I contacted Smith and they sent a new extractor and springs. That improved it but didn’t resolve the issue. There have been several articles written about the problem and suggesting slightly bending the ejector inward a couple thousandths. I did that and have not had another issue. I’m guessing Smith has resolved the issue by now.

My wife and I love the pistol. It’s basically stock except the Halo charging ring. I’m not sure there’s any reason to change anything. It’s very accurate and a dream to shoot. I’m thinking about trying it in steel challenge too. It would be the perfect pistol.

My wife is giving my a complementary rifle for Christmas. It’s one of the Thompson Center TC/R22 PC models with the barracuda stock, carbon fiber barrel, compensator and integral rail. It’s as light as a feather and is the rifle counterpart of the Victory PC. A red dot on it would make it a perfect steel gun but I’m mounting a 3-12 scope on it for now for precision shooting and plinking. I’m looking forward to taking it and the Victory to the range for some fun shooting.

S & W 22 cal victory

I bought one when they first came out. Put a red dot on it and its one of my favorite range guns, no problems. Basically use CCI SV ammo, buy it by the case. Yes, do yourself a favor and stay away from the Remington 22 cal ammo. I have a 41 and use the Victory more.

Thanks guys. I am waiting to see what sales are out there after Christmas. The Performance Centre Victory Model goes on sale for $799 Cdn up here or $615US. Pricey I guess but if I want one that is where the price is. Time to let the Queen breath and open up the wallet I guess.

Used to live near the Canadian border growing up and got a chuckle out of your use of the word centre as opposed to the American version center.
I just picked up a standard model this week, and. Am really looking forward to shooting it.
I never was much for tricked out stuff, and most of the “extras” on the performance centre gun appear to be simply tandemkross parts factory installed. Not sure how hard it is to get parts up north, but if it were me I would get the base model then add aftermarket parts only if deemed necessary

Managed to get to the range for a box today, and am impressed with the victory. I didn’t expect it to run on standard velocity out of the gate but it ran 3 different types without issue. If only they offered a blued version. I hate stainless.
Only issue is the screw holding the rear sight on loosened up. Snugged her down when I got home. Takedown screw stayed tight

I have had my Victory for two years now and love it. Only issue I have with it is my knuckle on my right hand has a tendency to put the safety on if I get my grip a little high. I don't have big hands but they're not small either. Other than that like people say Remington Thunderbolts leave a lot to be desired. It seems to run everything else, including CCI Quite Autos just fine.

Put a dot sight on the plain victory model(who knew about a performance model) today for the first time. Accuracy is spot on, functionality is good, trigger modifications are justified.

I know they had a bad rap a few years back but now they seem to be getting better favor.

Well, it zeroed fine and seems to hold zero. Never used an expensive one so: I really don't know the difference between good and bad. Have several cheap ones that all seem to work.

I like the heft and handling of the suppressed steel barrel...
