PERSONALIZED LICENSE PLATES

Back during the national speed limit I tried for NOMO55 and was told it was not acceptable by the DMV.

Tried to find PC to stop the plates we could not figure out.

I remember when i was about 10 years i was in the backyard speaking to my grandfather. I was talking about what kind of car i would get when i was older..... My grandfather, looked around and said, Get the longest license you can find and no tattoos, you don't want anyone to remember you.....hmm....i always wondered if he had a second 'job' no one knew about...I also don't think he knew i wanted to be a cop.....

I always get one of Kentucky's conservation plates--the extra cost goes to our Department of Fish & Wildlife Resources for fisheries, game management, etc. But if I ever were to get a vanity plate (I won't) it would say "THUD". Or "CRUNCH". Might help deter tailgaters.

Some years back, a friend wanted to get a plate with his and his wife's initials, AC-DC. State of Michigan refused, allegedly due to "sexual connotation."

THE FAR SIDE cartoons

I haven't seen any Gary Larson cartoons in the paper for years. One that I remember is, GODZILLA is driving down the highway with New York city in his rear view mirror.
The license plate is,

I 8 N Y

His drawings are hilarious.

I have had several over the course of time. It is about the most unique and cheapest thing you can do to make your car stand out. Assuming you have a legal plate and with the different states allowing only so many spaces to use, the odds of seeing another car with your plate are very rare.

Obviously only a max of 50 are possible, but the odds say it will be much lower. My state (People's Republic of NY) allows up to 8 spaces and with that many spaces you can get a rather decent plate.

Going to large car shows over the years you will see most attendees have a special plate of some sort. Some are easy to figure out and some leaving you scratching your head. I went to the rather huge show Corvettes at Carlisle for may years and you see many people going through the lines of cars writing down some plates or now in the modern era they use a camera.

Some people think having special plates makes you more of a target for LEOs, but rest assured drive a high power Corvette and you attract their attention no matter what plate you have.:D

Dave a Corvette owner for over 30 years and now driving a 2015 Convertible. One of these days I will update my avatar picture here!:)

Larsen retired several years ago.

My daughter gave me a huge two-volume set of his entire work. I need to look at that again.
