Pet Load for .222

Not my most accurate load but

I use 20.5 gr 4198(IMR) with either a Hornady or Nosler 40 gr Ballistic tip. I shoot it cause it makes a tiny hole in Coyote pelts... on one side only. I mostly use the Nosler because I bought a bunch cheap and they really shoot pretty well. By accurate I mean at an inch or slightly under. The 222 is and always has been a very accurate round

H Richard not sure where you are getting your information but let me set the record straight

The triple deuce or Remington 222 was developed by the Remington genius Mike Walker in around 1950. A small version of the 30-06 case and soon to rule bench rest matches for quite a run.

IMR 3031, 4064, 4198, 4320, and 4227 were all developed and brought out around 1934-1935. 4198 replaced the original IMR #25 for generally smaller capacity cases ranging from 30K to 53K psi. It was never formulated for anything specific but was one powder in the above line up that fit nicely in smaller cases or larger cases with lower pressure. There is more to it than that but just an overview.

I always used 20.5g of IMR 4198 when I was loading 222 with 50g bullets. That was always a good combination.
