PHRASES ORIGINATED IN SHOOTING

Kind of liking the three masted sailing ship idea...... with 9 yards..... a full spread of sail.

9 yards is not a full spread of sail in a full rigged 3 mast ship. Not by a long shot.

Just count them. and it even does not have the stunsails rigged.

Have heard that "flash in the pan" was a gold panning term.
Have also heard that "lock, stock, and barrel" could have been a mercantile term: lock on the door, stock on the shelves, and barrel of pickles.:D
