Pick your one and only handgun!

My choice may change by the minute but right now it'd be my Ruger Commander size 1911 in a Galco Fletch holster. I think I could pack enough 45acp to last awhile too.

Head for the hills, end of time,Zombie scenario! Out of my magnum revolvers, and 1911 collection my pick might be surprising. But I'm going to go with my .50 cal Desert Eagle.Im going to want accuracy out to 200 yards, close in accuracy that has kept up with my Ed Brown Cobra Carry, enough power to stop and kill anything. And the ability to penetrate body armor.Ammo very hard to find, but hopefully I have enough on hand already.

Well, if I had to live off the land, I'd probably take my Sig P226 9mm. It's my favorite gun to shoot and I have a lot of 9mm ammo.

But, I'd be tempted to take my Colt 1911 Combat Elite because it was a 25th wedding anniversary gift from my wife. Plus, it's cool. :)

This is getting out of hand and I cant help myself. Here is another pair, both 5"s. My name engraved model 27-2 on top and a 29-2 on bottom. Which one go`s?

Since the wilderness here.....

Since the 'wilderness' here is devoid of large animals a deer, bobcat or maybe a hog would be about the biggest thing around here, my 686 will do just fine. If I were to head for the mountains where the :eek:BEARS:eek: live I'd take something bigger.

Of the revolvers I own, my 624 snub would be the one I choose. Big enough to handle most jobs, still concealable, and a revolver I shoot extremely well.

I've got to go along with Wyo on this one. I have both, but the 31/2" will reach out and smack whatever I'm gonna see at reasonable handgun ranges and is easier to carry.

Yes, Skeeter's article is what prompted this thread. I haven't read it in a few years, but it was on my mind the other day.

I've owned both the 3.5 inch and 5 inch guns, and while I greatly enjoyed the shorter barrel, nothing points more naturally or feels better in the fist than a 5 inch 27.

I split the difference and got a 4" 27.

As Skeeter said, the old 5 incher balances better than about anything out there. I heartily agree, but if'n I got to pack it in the mountains, I'll take the 3 1/2." It will shoot as far as my ol peepers will point it.

I tried a 4 inch 28. It conceals a little better, but I like the longer sight radius.

Even the Grand Old Man Elmer Keith was not a fan of the 3.5 inch. In his opinion, the 4 inch was as short as one should go.

However, for looks, there is no gun more beautiful or enticing than a 3.5 inch 27.
