For years i have been trying to find a 617 no lock 6" for under the price of a arm and a leg.

Last birthday i found one.

I enjoy the pistol a lot. My only issue is, that it builds lead in the cylinder and makes reloading a chore. The cartridges have to be pushed into place one by one. I soaked the cylinder in Cleaning Fluid, Used a brass patch to ream out the lead build up, but with in 150 rounds or less (depending on ammo) it will re lead up and be at the same point. Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Is it lead, or a combination of bullet lube and powder fouling? Maybe try some different ammo?? I only have one rimfire revolver, a Ruger SP101. It does the same thing, with the cartridges taking a little nudge to fully seat, after firing it a bit. Maybe just run a bronze/brass chamber brush through it a little more often during a range session, to keep it from building up quite so much.

It could be a combo of the lead and fouling. I do take a brush with me now. Most of the ranges here are draconian about doing any kind of repairs/cleaning like that. I use the brass patch lead reamer to clean it out. It is somewhat annoying since i like to put about 350-500 rounds through it at a time. It is a fun pistol to shoot.

I currently have put about 5, maybe 6 kinds of ammo through it. It seems to like the Federal 40grn lead round nose the most as far as build up in the cylinder is concerned. Maybe i need to give a 40 grn plated round a go for a few sessions to see if that clears it up..

Man i wish i could buy 711b in bulk.... stupid federal.

Nice find, and, Good for you!

The issues you describe sound perfectly normal to me as I have had the exact same issues with every .22 revolver I've ever owned.

There are some (maybe a lot, depending on the day) people who will tell you that they've never had the loading/ejection issue you describe.

One thing I would say; the issue is less pronounced with the 6 shooters vs. those that hold 8, 9 etc. That is because there's less friction with only 6 rounds to load or eject.

Nice revolver! The lube (not lead) buildup is totally normal with rimfire revolvers. It is just the name of the game. I generally have the best results with CCI mini mags.

+1. Mini-Mags aren't immune to the problem, but they're the cleanest I've found. I'd rather pay the higher price to lessen the PITA factor. They're plenty accurate, too.
