Boatswainsmate, I see you're a Navy man.
I was very close to a Boatswainsmate Arrester Gear that served on the USS Independence ca. 1964-1965 which included a trip to the South China Sea and offensive action in Vietnam.
Many many A4 SkyHawk hook-ups.

That is a beautiful thing OP! When shot with a good pair of "Cop-Gloves" as I like to call them... a .44 snubbie is surprisingly enjoyable! I'm good for 100-120 full house mags with Goncalo Alves "Combats" & aforementioned gloves with my somewhat new "Mountain Back Packer" 3-inch barreled .44Mag/Special. My grizzly bear laser etching for some reason was polished off my sideplate... From the factory... I'm happy to see yours is prominently and crisply displayed as I think it's a nice attribute! Good job on posting a pic of your new Woods/EDC gun. Be sure and post more and equally important... a range report when you can and thanks for sharing. I have the flu and am riding it out in my basement away from others hanging out on this forum as a good distraction from my symptoms.

IMHO, YOU SOUND VERY COOL ! ! ! YOU ONLY NEED TO BUST A SAG, AND WEAR YOUR HAT BACKWARDS, TO COMPLETE THE IMAGE.....

I WONDER WHAT SCENARIO LED TO YOUR LASER ETCHING BEING POLISHED OFF THE SIDEPLATE, FROM THE FACTORY. PERHAPS IT WAS AT THE REQUEST OF THE ORIGINAL OWNER, WHILE IT WAS IN FOR SOME WARRANTY WORK ? ? ?

Actually, every single "MBP" I've seen has had that grizzly bear polished off to the point it take bright sunshine or a really high powered light to see the etching. It's a known "trademark" almost of the small produced Mountain Back Packer series by Smith.
It was never in for warranty work I'm 99% positive. Member "OldEnough" here was the guy who sold her to me and he said he put exactly (1) box of full house Mags thru her in 2000' and then she sat in the safe until he needed the extra cash for his wedding in September of this year. When I received the piece it looked to have never been fired with barely a turn line on the cylinder. I've fixed that problem as of recent though.

SO THE POLISHING IS NOT UNIQUE TO JUST YOUR REVOLVER. THIS DEEPENS THE MYSTERY.....

That's a nice looking gun. Is the cylinder stainless steel? I had a snub 325PD for a short while but the Ti cylinder was just too light and it made the gun handle weird to me. With the added weight of a stainless cylinder, it would be just about perfect I would think.
