Picked up a new TRR8 today

My dentist is a competitive shooter, mostly USPSA, and has asked me if I might be interested in steel challenge. I haven't done any competition shooting since I was on my ship's rifle / pistol team back in the 80s.

Anyone here do steel challenge with a TRR8? I've had this one on layaway for a few months and finally picked it up.

What optics work for you, anything to stay away from?

Also interested in handloads and holsters that have worked for you.

I put a Vortex Venom 3 MOA on my 325 TR. Works pretty good.

I'm running the Leupold Delta Point Pro optic. I 1st used their mount on the rail then got a mount from Brownells that replaces the rear sight. Lower mount looks nicer but I don't notice any advantage.

Before and after shots below. I have a vortex viper on an M&P and like the larger window of the Leupold.

I added the lock delete plug and a different main spring to lighten up the DA.

For loads I use lightly loaded 125gr 38spc loads.
No competition for me.

I shot steel challenge with mine quite a bit. Worked great with 38 lites and the eight shots really helped with pick ups.

So, who makes a holster for this revolver suitable for competition? Digging through my safe I found a FastFire II that I forgot I had and installed it. Gonna wring it out today, if it doesn't rain.

I have a 327 TRR8 that I use in USPSA and Steel Challenge. I'm going to have to look into this as my old eyes have a hard time with iron sights these days. I love my TRR8!
