Picked up my 15-22 yesterday

Colt makes a version that is aluminum. It's about $100 more than the 15-22 but it may resolve the "insignificant" feelings you are having.

COLT DOES NOT MAKE THAT PIECE OF JUNK.
Its made by Umarex. i have the umarex sa1777 .177cal air pistol (and its actually a great pistol) but the .22lr COLT thing is GARBAGE!! This smith & wesson 15-22 might be polymer, but its the closest thing to a real AR(function wise).

i love my 15-22. i will never sell it. this thing has its place. its tactical, its light, it eats any ammo i put through it, it has gentle recoil, its a great trainer, its great for future kids, its perfect for the wife, and i love looking at it. its a keeper for sure!

I was looking to buy the colt and after allot of research found the 15-22. Shortly after my research I was at the range and the guy in the next lane had one. He let me shoot it and that was all it took, bought mine that day.

Welcome to the club as I am a novice 15-22 of 2 months too, look around for ammo and don't fall for overpaying. Have fun , such a kick *** axe!

Had the mossberg before the S&W and what a pain in the butt to take apart and clean compared to the SW. Shoot it and you will like it. I really like the lighter weight of it.

I saw the Mossy 715T, too. That weapon sparked my interest in aquiring a tactical .22.

Then I reseached it and bought the M&P instead.

The Mossy looked like they had just removed the stock from a 'Plinker' and encased the receiver and barrel in a cheap plastic shroud.

A guy on Utube had taken his apart to remove the excess lube before firing it and after 'field stripping' (if you care to call it that) , his was for sale.

The screws for the plastic 'shroud' are coarse threaded plastic screws which fasten back into regular, unreinforced plastic holes. By that I mean, there are no metal inserts cast into the plastic for the screws to go into.

Good luck getting them back together after 'field stripping' them 10-20 times. Guess you'd just have to start using bigger screws?

The price was right, tho, especially for what you actually get.

I purchased the A1 version of the M&P15-22 for $418 and added some $200 worth of Magpul FDE furniture. I absolutely love this thing, it fires so well and accurate. NO REGRETS!

Well i was able to get to the range with it and let me say it shoots very well with no malfunctions. Hit bulls eye everytime at 25 yards with a cheap red dot using standard cci ammo must have put 300 rounds through it.:)
