here is a garand I restored a few years ago. my good friend wanted it so bad he was hurting, so when he counted out enough 100 dollar bills I eased his pain......

General Patton's M1? would have gone great with his pistols!!!!! Can almost see him standing by the side of the road with the butt of that rifle on his right hip ...... waiving his troops on to "The Bulge"

That Garand make me want to :D

kinda was thinking more people would have taken the opportunity to post the obscure and rare.... Daewoo DR-200 anyone...? will need to dig up an image later...
found the photos...

for those not familiar with the Daewoo... it is basically an AR-15 lower with a AK-47 upper... uses std AR mags... pretty much the first gas op long piston AR... South Korean standard rifle from the mid 80's... other models called K-2, DR-100 & DR-300

Very nice! Can you please tell us about the stock on the SOCOM?
Yes, it's the Sage EBR chassis, same as used on the MK14 Mod 0 EBR - mk14 ebr mod 0 - Google Search

Don't know about codenamedave's frankengun reference, maybe he doesn't like the look, I do, but there is no denying that the Sage chassis works. It's stiff and gives an immediate improvement in accuracy and the adjustability allows you to fit it to anyone using any optic. It adds a little weight but the pay off is worth it.

It's a term I saw on another forum, from a user in the sandbox. Their opinion was that the stock was a desperate attempt to bring some stability and hopefully some increased precision to an outdated platform. The awkward mix of old & new and it's visually crude put-together appearance gave rise to the Frankengun moniker amongst the troops.

First time I've heard that. The Sage chassis works, plain and simple. Drop your barreled receiver into it and set it up properly and it will shoot more accurately. The Sage chassis and EBR concept has been around for over a decade, is well established, and has proven itself in the middle east. My son is in AF spec ops and has had multiple deployments to Afghanistan and I've yet to hear anything negative from him about the MK 14 EBR. In fact, the opposite is true, everyone is glad to have an accurate .308 in the mix, whether it's the MK 14 or the SCAR 17, which is the rifle my son carries.

Do you have any personal experience with the M1A or M14 and the Sage EBR chassis?

I would've thought that answer would be obvious. No I don't, but I do have basic reading skills. Shall we try this again?:
