I just got a new 29-10 and the little pin that is in the front of the ejector-rod housing walks out when firing and can easily be pushed out with a small tack ect.

What is suppose to hold this pin in?? Spring tension from the front latch??

Any advise would sure be appreciated

The cross pin that retains the front locking bolt and spring is a friction press-fit. Or rather, it is SUPPOSED to be. Once in a long while, the pin used is undersized or the hole is drilled oversize, and it is not quite a press fit.

The fix is to use a punch or chisel to impact the center of the pin enough to slightly deform it. It can then be driven into place and stay.

freedom 475: The drilled hole is slightly too large for that pin or the pin is slightly too small. Pull the pin out. Put it on a flat steel surface with a piece of brass shim under one edge. Use a very small hammer to put a slight bend in the middle of the pin. Re-insert; should hold now. ... Big Cholla

Thank you guys.. those were the two ideas that I had come up with. I thought there might be something more technical that I should do... When all else fails ...get a hammer:D:D

You might also try a bit of locktite on the pin & clean the hole with a pipe cleaner soaked in alcohol plus clean the pin..
I also think that bending it slightly or burring it up will solve the problem..
GOOD LUCK!!
