I have enjoyed cigars for many years. Thirty years ago it was a pipe.
I started watching Maigret, and the Jeremy Brett, Sherlock Holmes series on Amazon and low and behold I had the urge for a pipe.
I still have a couple that survived a toss out.
Trying to find tobacco that is not all dried out is a problem.
There are numerous tobacco sites, but which one.
Suggestions appreciated.

If you don't have a pipe shop in your area may I suggest Boswell's in Chambersburg, PA. The have online sales of pipe tobacco. The one I like is an mild English Blend called Railroad Station. However, they have a bunch of tobaccos available and a look on the website would be a good idea.

My daughter and her boyfriend went to Ireland and brought me back some Peterson tins of tobacco.

They are available here in the states, very good tobacco!

My usual supplier is SmokingPipes. If you'd like to audition a few blends to find something you like, you can get an ounce of each candidate in the "bulk" section.

Pipes are as bad as guns about multiplying when you're not watching, so be careful! I have seventy pipes, and I'm not sure how that happened. I only actually smoke maybe two dozen of them.

My dad smoked Macbaren's pipe tobacco and of course I did too, later on. I inherited his Dunhills and Savinellis and smoked several of the various Macbaren blends until the oral surgeon said "no more" unless an oral cancer is on your "to do" list. I do miss it every once in awhile.

On occasion I'll pick up one of my Pipes from my collection and smoke it, but contrary to my sometimes expensive taste I actually prefer less expensive pipe tobacco than many of the expensive ones. I actually like the "Drug Store Brands" like Granger, Prince Albert, Sir Walter Raleigh and Edgeworth (now called Lane Ltd. since they could no longer use he Edgeworth name). The expensive Aromatic Tobaccos seem to burn my tongue in short order and I like the less heavy flavors and tastes of the cheaper tobacco.

My all time favorite which is no longer available was the Edgeworth (Extra High Grade Slices) that was not ready rubbed - it was just sold in small 2" x 4" tin boxes that you rubbed in your palm to get the size and texture you liked.

I make my own cigarettes using pipe tobacco. I get it in one pound bags from a local smoke shop. It's always fresh.

Cost me about $11.00 to roll up a carton. My daughter pays around $70 for a carton.

I smoked a blend called RPL 211 for a number of years 20 years ago ..was made by a local smoke shop in Peoria ..

Women loved the smell of the tobacco .. I was continuously asked by them what I was smoking because it smelled so good to them .. including my now wife ..

Another vote for smokingpipes.com. Great selection at good prices. They've separated me from a good bit of my discretionary income over the years - I have a serious problem saying "no" to a nicely carved meerschaum.

Holmes smoked Wilke, well at least Rathbone did.[emoji16]

I used to smoke Bohemian mix but Carole retired so now its Black spice from smoking pipes.
