The young lad will be tried, sentenced and put in a place like heaven to someone from Somolia. An american prison , we will feed him better than he has ever been feed, put him in better clothes ,educate him and then turn him loose in our society Because he did not know he was doing wrong . We can't treat him any different than we treat our own THANK THE NEW liberals

He's the poster boy for arrogant people from that part of the world who smirk at America.

He also typifies the criminal who gloats at seeing TV cameras on him.

A long time ago. Caesar had the pirates who kidnapped him captured. Capt. Kidd received a famous trial.

But convicted pirates were crucified or hanged.

I think this smirky little punk ought to be hanged in public, despite bleats from the liberal media.

He should have been shot right then and there. I can PROMISE you, moveon.org, the ACLU, et al will run this into a complete circus.

Once again I am convinced we are living in the twilight zone.

Well, he was the smartest of the four pirates; he got the hell off that lifeboat and gave himself up.

Time will tell whether he is "smirky" or just overjoyed to still be above the waves.
Either way, his pirating days are over.

200 years ago when they captured a pirate, I have a feeling that they didn't bring him back to New York for trial. Rather, he would get a fairly brief "trial" followed swiftly by his execution and burial at sea.

He is not so happy now...will be tried as an adult. Latest photos show the grin gone, replaced by a sort of "deer in the headlights" look. Faces life in prison, no parole.....if he is only 16, that, hopefully, will be a very long time.

Not to worry. A few short months from now he'll be some 300lb career criminal's "wife". Let the good times roll. I'm sure it will be a life changing experience for this young goat lover.

You guys have missed the sound bites of various liberal lawyers who are already arguing that since the kid willfully surrendered prior to the hostilities that resulted in the deaths of his mates, the government has no criminal case against him and he can not be charged with any civilian crimes in the US. I bet he walks since he is a minor.

You didn't have to bring that little ass hat in.

I agree they should have let him go half way here.

Now his mother wants the US to bring her here for the trial. I think we should send Vice President Biden to Somalia in a government jet to pick her up. He can hold her hand during the flight to comfort her. While in New York, she can stay in a nice hotel at goverment expense. I suggest the Omni on East 52, if I remember correctly. And not just any hotel room in the Omni, but the Rogers & Hammerstein Suite. Food, drinks, and anything else at goverment expense. A Secret Service Agent can pick her up at the hotel and transport her to the courthouse every day.

After he is convicted and sent to federal prison, we can relocate his mother nearby so she can visit him every day.

I think this is the nice and humane thing to do, and I am sure The Annointed One will approve.

It will be interesting to see how this trial works out. I bet he does next to no time if any. He likely will be convicted and obama will give him a presidental pardon in the intrest of "peace and forgiveance"!

They should just return him to Somalia. Via C130 cargo, deliver him right to his village. The first step from 30,000 ft may be a doozie though.

Why did they have to bring him HERE?? I guess so we'll be able to watch the trial on MSNBC.
It's too bad that the crew didn't finish the job that they started.
