Pistol Grip Options

Ordered the Hogue grips 8-11 ( Saturday ) Mailman delivers them today 8-14 from Fudrucker's for $17.83 to My door ! Like night and day difference with the Hogue grips ! ......WVleo

I'm really pleased with the fit and feel of the Hogue. You may need longer than standard Allen wrench to install it. I just bent a spare one straight and gripped with vise-grips.

ya i ended up buying a set of extended allen wrenches at home depot just for the hogue. and of course, now its sitting in a drawer waiting for me to post it up for sale.

Back when America had factories I actually worked at one and had to have tools like allen wrenches to adjust the robotics. 2 minute job switching the grip out, but had to be careful as I did not want to bottom out the bolt into the Poly ! Very solid grip. I'm starting to think it was a good idea to stay clear of the AR platform all these years as it could get addicting LOL !....WVleo

dont believe so. the wedge specifically say its for the miad grip. im assuming because of the swapable backstraps.

its funny you say we had factories here but that you worked on a robot that did the actual manufacturing lol.

I like the look of the Viking Tactics grip. I dislike the A2 style grip with the finger bump. I purchased a CAA interchangeable grip, but suspect I wasted my money on it. Even with the small front and backstrap it isn't as small as the MAID. I'm thinking a MAID or MOE+ in my future.

took 4 of Us to maintain and operate the robotic arms on that laser system, duh, whats funny ? Technology didn't force manufacturing out of America, Unions did ! Or more correctly Union Managment , not the rank & file........WVleo

There were more workers in factories after robotics than before. The actual job just changed.
I program CNC machines, a form of robot, and am very happy to not turn handles for a living any longer.

While the wedge was designed for use on an AR10 lower receiver when using the MIAD grip, the specs on the MOE grip says "NOTE: This grip will now function properly with 7.62 NATO AR10/SR25 style of rifles but, depending on the make of the rifle, may or may not leave a gap between the 'beaver tail' and the receiver. This gap is purely aesthetic and will not affect function."

Unfortunately, the 15-22 lower receiver doesn't quite match up with a standard AR15 one, so you will have a gap with any AR15 grip that has a beavertail. My 15-22 has a gap with the MOE grip.

^but does the gap on your moe affect the detent pin spring? my pin was lose after installing the miad grip because the spring sat lower with the gap.

as for the factory comment, it was just amusing that you started talking about tools and factories and ended with the robot that did the manufacturing. just not what you would normally expect. but i understand where you guys are coming from, ive managed for anheuser-busch for the past several years and watched many changes with more automation come through. and yes, i too have mixed feelings about unions.

As for the loose pin because of the gap, would putting something in the bottom of the hole the spring sits in like a spacer help? That or maybe trimming the grip around the top where it doesn't have the gap to even it out? Or would the tab (for lack of knowing what to call it, the skinnier part of the lower that slips in the middle of the grip) bottom out before the grip came any closer to flush? I want to get one for mine also, but don't know if I'd like the gap is why I'd ask

No, the gap I have when using the Magpul MOE grip does not affect the detent pin spring. The gap is from the beavertail to to curved rear section of the lower receiver, not where the detent pin spring is.

I think the MIAD poses a problem because it's a three piece design and the rear detent pin spring comes out of the lower where the MIAD backstrap and center slide together.

When I bought the MOE grip for my 15-22, I figured it would be fine since the same grip is available on the MOE version of the 15-22 and I doubt Magpul made a version specifically it.

Ref: post #21 by Beuford T. Rimfire.....

I shoot in many places with red dirt and other contaminates...Is the stippling easy to clean?........................Thanks..............Dan

It's easy for me.

I take my mags apart every thousand rounds or so and scrub them with a nylon brush in hot soapy water. It gets the powder residue off and cleans the stippling.

Dan01, these dudes beat me to the answer! Usually a toothbrush will get everything clean. Brushing when dry seems to work best, but I have used a cheap spray bottle to mist water on some stubborn spots. Seemed to work pretty well.

Use the one that came with the grip. I know with the Magpul grips you can damage them if you use the factory bolt. Also, it could thread in too far and hit the sear.

Which hogue grip do you order? Nothing comes up for M&p 15-22, do you order the standard ar15/m16 grip?
