I think I may have something call "Plain Clothes" stocks. Apparently, the bottom of the grip has extra rounded contour to help hide the butt of the gun when carried concealed. I'm not familiar with these so am curious; appreciate any info. Thanks!

Can't believe no one has answered this one yet. The stocks are called "PC magnas." If you do a search, you should find plenty of info on them.

These are on my M48. Wasn't sure if they came that way, but sure looked original. Learn something new every day!!

It's my understanding they were used on fixed sight guns.

If so, then mine are definitely not factory. Actually, the fit is good, but not perfect. I've got some K targets coming any day now anyway. Nice to have choices.

PC magnas were/are standard equipment on just about all round butt k & j frame guns regardless of sites. Mod 19 2 1/2'' rb guns have adjustable sites and pc magnas. My mod 34 2'' rb has them too

The best explanation I've been given is that shortly after their introduction in 1952, modified (PC) magna stocks were standard on fixed-sighted square butt K-frame revolvers and the standard magnas were normally provided on those with adjustable sights . . . but either type could be specified by the stocking dealer at the same price.

Only a stamped number on the inside of the right panel will confirm they are original to the gun . . . not sure if a factory letter would be that specific.

SW282 has addressed very well the round butt K and J frames.

edit to add - not sure how long the factory continued with the above.

Here is a set on my 66 no-dash. Not original of course, this revolver shipped with target stocks . . .

Terry C: Back East, we referred to these grips as 'square rounds.' But what I really wanted to tell you: a 4" 66 with these grips and a T-grip, in an IWB rig... Some people know how to fly, baby! Who made that rig?
Good shooting, pardner! Kaaskop49

Thanks. It's a Don Hume holster.

The 4" 66 is a fairly slim package and not that hard to conceal, unless you put on the target stocks . . . ;)

Dry Heat: Hi, notice how a 3.5" 27 only looks right with the Magna grips! Mine came boxed with the big target 'trombone' grips which I changed to the service Magnas from a 28.

Question: I see the inscription on the sideplate: Is that an issue gun or a commemorative? Great gun, by the way.
