Yes, an 8 3/8" .357 Magnum from the 1950s. Missing the rear sight blade but easily remedied. A very good price if otherwise mechanically sound.

Looks to be pretty well worn pre-Model 27, but for $375, I would have been a buyer.

I was watching this one, but didn't bid as I couldn't ID it. Should there be an S in the front of the serial number they gave?

As noted above, that there is one of the finest handguns ever made - the Smith & Wesson 357 Magnum. That one is an 8 3/8" barreled 5-screw gun that based on the serial number probably shipped in late 1954. It is also one of my favorites, in one of my favorite barrel lengths. They are a delight to shoot!:D I'd have been ALL OVER THAT at $375.

Congrats to whomever won that one!!!

Totally confused.
So are used Gun Prices going up or not?
This Gun sold suspiciously Cheap!
If I saw it at a Gun Show at this price I would get get the instant urge to buy it now!
But I look over this gun like this is too good to be true!

Generally speaking, yes, the prices of nearly all firearms, ammo, and reloading supplies is higher than it was 5 years ago. There is the occasional really good buy, likely because someone does not know what they have or it's condition eliminates collector interest and younger gun purchasers are not interesting in anything that cannot be easily carried.

It is a Pre-27.
It does have an S. The dummies just didn't know it is part of the serial number.

Thank you. I thought that was what it was. It still had enough condition issues to turn me off, though.

Despite the best efforts of SWF members and others, sometimes a deal slips through online or in person, undetected by the early gun warning radar system. ;)
