Good deal,
Like the flash chromed hammer trigger, Endurance package, drilled and tapped for scope mount...
Only slight I can put on the 629-3 classic 5" is that the rear site is unique to that revision so dont lose it if removed.

Why such demand ? Is it because of the 5" barrel ?
I have a 629-4 with the 5" that I bought new back around 94-95 and probably have maybe 100 rounds through it .

5 inch, I'd buy it. I have a -4 , but doesn't have the flash chromed H&T like the -3's, and looks a bit odd imo against the stainless frame.

Here's what I'm talking about.

The -4 686,66,629 revolver versions had the non flash chrome hammers and triggers. Smith was phasing out blued revolvers at this time and the rumor is that they used up the excess inventory of plain case hardened hammers and triggers in the stainless revolvers.

The 629-3 and 29-5 classic (full lug) revolvers have a unique to them longer, rounded front rear sight. In the 629-4 and 29-6 revolvers Smith went to the current rear sight still being used today. If you use a current rear sight on a 629-3 or 29-5 Classic you will have a gap in front of the sight.

Also of note is that the non classic versions (non full lug) of the 629-3 and 29-5 were still using the old square front rear sight and these were not factory drilled and tapped for scope mounting.. In the 629-4 and 29-6 versions all barrel styles wore the new rounded front rear sight and all were drilled and tapped.

It's a different length. The screw for the front of the sight is just above the throat. Later version is longer.

IIRC the 629-3 rear site tang is longer than the 629-4 tang... but they are different rear site units,
the 629-4 site will swap with current production where the 629-3 rear site is unique to that revision so may be difficult to find one if lost or damaged.
